Good afternoon Bees!!!
So here I am just browsing the boards looking at peoples awsome e-rings and it hits me… what if the ring I have told my SO about doesn’t suit me and I’ve gone on and on and on about how much I love it…?
Is it bad luck (or just plain weird) to go and try the set on at the store (without my SO of course) just to see if it looks any good…? I dont think he is even at the stage of buying a ring yet BUT.. said ring is the only one we have both looked at and loved so any advice would be appreciated 🙂

The whole reason I (well I dont have it yet but SO does) have a ring right now is because I went and tried it on (more than once…) and one day I went in and it was on sale for 50% off, I vote go try it on and love every moment of it!

@miss_vixen: I see no problem in going at all and I would do the same! 🙂

I would’ve done it had my ring not come from MoissyCo! So I definitely think it’s fine.

I think it’s fine, too! It’s a very important decision and liking something online doesn’t always equate to it working on you. Our engagement was a complete and total surprise and I had no idea it was coming, so I had no chance to try on a ring. However, I did always know what style ring did look right, what did suit me and my personality and my preferences, and so we did talk about how I prefer simple, but I never told him which ring I would choose (because it was not at all something I thought would be happening for years. Anyway, that was a really long sentence.
The point is, I knew for a very long time what suited me as far as any ring or jewelry went, so I knew that any simple engagement ring would work (not that I ever thought before this guy rolled around that I’d be wearing one). I think it makes perfect sense for you to be sure, too. It’s neither weird nor bad luck to be sure about the piece of jewelry you’ll be wearing for the rest of your life.

thanks so much for your input ladies… I thought I would upload a picture of it also to give you an idea of what it looks like…
the first picture with the e-ring and wedding band is just to show you the wedding band that goes with the the e-ring in picture 2 also.. 🙂

I have tried on so many rings haha. I have even “picked-out” rings that I didn’t even want anymore when it came time to buying. I would defiantly go try it on!

i think it’s totally fine to go and try on, but for some reason i can’t decide for myself. one part of me wants to see if the rings i love actually suit me well, and the other doesn’t wanna know before one of them comes along with the question. *confused*

You absolutely have to try it on to see how it looks on YOUR hand! What if it looks awful?

I would go with him, I don’t think it should be a secret thing. And I’m pretty sure there’s no such thing as bad luck 🙂

@miss_vixen: Not bad luck or weird at all! I have found that some diamond shapes look better than others on my hand. You never really know until you try it. It’s kinda weird… all the visualizing in the world doesn’t compare to how you feel when you have it on.

@miss_vixen: I would try it on. I can’t count how many rings I liked in photos or by looking at the display case only to try them on and be like, “uh, no!”
If you were superstitious maybe you could try on something that was very similar, maybe at a different store or something.

I’m slowly learning that I am severely in the minority. I think it’s completely weird to try on engagement rings without your SO or without his initiating the ring shopping by telling you it’s ok to look. I also think if you go alone you should tell him and not keep it a secret.
I think it’s OK to go try on other rings that are not engagement rings though.

Definitely go try it on ! You need to know if it looks the way you picture it 🙂 I had my heart set on a ring and when I tried it on, I was so very disappointed… but I found another style that I absolutely love !

I would go try it on because I thought I liked halos but when I tried some on they didn’t look good on me. I also tried on some princess cut even though I wasn’t crazy about them and I thought they made my fingers look short and fat. Nothing against either of those styles they just didn’t look right on me. Better to find out now rather than later, right?
