I'm pretty sure you have to leave your e-ring with the jeweler for a custom piece. When is the event that you want to wear your ring? If it's in a few weeks, I wouldn't see getting your ring back as a problem.
You might want to call and ask if your jeweler shipped your ering off to have the mold for your band made and explain the situation...that way you'll have a realistic time frame.
I left the ring with her last night, 4/11. I leave for the big party in Charleston on Saturday, 4/30. I really, really hope she doesn't need it all that time!
I did tell her about the party...partially because she's said she might go to Charleston on vacation at the end of the month. I told her she should come to the party. Maybe that was weird of me, but this woman has helped my fiance buy every birthday and Christmas gift I've gotten in the last three years. :)
My jeweler took mine. It's only been a couple of weeks, but like you, I've got a big even for which I'm hoping I'll have it. I'll cross my fingers for you!
This is normal. I actually had to leave mine with the jeweler for 5 weeks!! I had purchased a stand-in to wear on our honeymoon, so I just wore that for special occasions.
It sucks not to have it, but it's worth it in the end when you get your perfect band!

Thanks to a lower than expected price quote and our jeweler offering us 15% off her quote, we ordered our wedding bands last night. It's a bit early to do this for a June 2012 wedding, but the price seemed very good (both to me and compared to those who posted on the thread I made about the quote). It's nice to get that squared away.
The only bummer is that I had to leave my engagement ring behind so the band could be made to sit flush. Right now, I'm wearing my grandmother's engagement ring instead, which my aunt put a pearl in and gave to me for my 21st birthday (I almost never wear it).
My jeweler said she'd get my e-ring back to me as soon as possible and that it wouldn't be needed for too, too long.
The only problem is that I won my dress in an essay contest and the designer is throwing a big party in Charleston at the end of the month to turn it over to me (link to the thread about that below). It's going to be covered by wedding blogs and magazines. I sort of want to have my engagement ring by them.
Maybe I'll call the jeweler a week before I leave and tell her I need my ring. Hm.
