Backstory – got off BC end of Dec. 1st cycle was normal. 2nd cycle was nearly 80 days long. Third cycle hasn’t happened yet.. I’m at about CD 48. So essentially I’ve only had 2 full periods this entire year. I figured getting off of the pill would leave me wonky for a month or two but this is just such a let down. I started charting but a work trip (which required me to wake up 3 – 4 hours earlier every day for a few wks) interfeered with my charting so I need to restart now that I’m back to my normal routine. I get crapy and symptoms of some kind of hormonal activity a few times throughout this crazy long cycle (I get sinus pressure right before my period and a few times I got crazy sinus pressure and cramping so I kept thinking my period was about to start but nothing ever showed up.)
I’ve randomly done OPKs, especially when I felt my hormones were potentially changing. I’ve done lots and lots of HPT strips.. nothing. I feel like my cycle is in some black hole and will never return. After getting off the pill, most people regulate out by 3 – 6 months and I’m almost at the 6 month mark.
Should I call a doc? (I only have my primary care physician.. I don’t have an OBGYN yet.) Is there anything they can even do or tell me besides “go home and wait it out”
Should I get more charts or more cycles under my belt before calling?
Should I give up and just oogle other people’s babies for the rest of my life? (sarcasm.. I’m not going to give up yet/it’s too soon to think that way but it’s hard to feel rational and not so disappointed/not feel like I’m a freak of nature)
(I’m 26 FWIW. I was on the pill for sooo long that I couldn’t even tell you if I had normal cycles pre-BC or not.)
Thanks for dealing with my rant/advice question~
