@MissMusic: You need to figure out if you're ovulating. AF doesn't always mean that you have either. I would track your temps because even though it's a small inconvenience it's free and you're not wasting opk's and money trying to figure it out.
How are you on cd30 if you stopped the pill on Jan 1st? Did you have a withdrawal bleed? My first cycle off was 35 days. I would keep having sex but know that you could just be having a wonky cycle.
When I stopped BCP (after being on it for 10 years), it was 30+ days before I had a period. Don't get discouraged yet, it can take several months after stopping BCP for your body to regular.
I'd say after you have a period, then start using OPKs. Get the internet cheapies (Wondfo brand) from Amazon.
It is possible to get pregnant even before you have a period. My sister got pregnant with her second child 2 weeks after stopping BCP.
@MissMusic: It's definitely possible, but i think it's too stressful using OPKs with a long cycle. I would just temp and BD every few days...
@SSLM: Sorry I didn't write this- I stopped taking my pills mid cycle so I started counting from when I was still on pills. Am I counting wrong then? I am still a newbie at this. Thanks!
@Mrs Green Grass: I think that temping is a good idea. I will try to start doing that and see if I can detect ovulation without getting too technical yet.
First, I'm sorry if my post sounded blunt!!
Second, I'm not an expert at all, but I can tell you my experience. I also went off the pill mid cycle. About 5 days later I had a withdrawal bleed. I counted the start of that as day 1 of my cycle. That cycle went on for 35 days.
I'm not sure, but I don't think you can count from whenyou were on the pill, since you wouldn't have been ovulating or anything on it. I think you need to wait for a period and then go from there with counting. However, I think you should definitely keep TTC in the meantime and maybe take a test every once in a while. I hope this was helpful :)
@MissMusic: Do you know if you ovulated at all in that time? If no, AF could be ____ days away - there's no real way of knowing, since you technically won't have a 14-day luteal phase this cycle. Annovulatory cycles = evil.
Being the queen of long cycles with no ovulation.. and after endless months waiting for AF or hoping that it might be a BFP cycle.. I'd suggest you keep on charting. If you can bear the cost/disappointment, OPK sticks will confirm if you are/aren't ovulating. If you don't want to do that while you're waiting, just keep an eye on things - chart temps {if you're into that sort of thing} and CM, and just keep record.
Chances are, your body will sort itself out soon as it becomes used to not being on BC anymore - but if it DOESN'T, you'll be well armed to sort yourself out in the coming months. Good luck!
@jaguar: I don't know. I did not test or temp at first. I have decided I am going to wait it out and see how long it takes for AF to arrive. If its still MIA in a few weeks I will call my endorinologist just to check her thoughts. Once I actually get AF I will officially start charting and using OPKs. Thanks for the advice and support!

I have posted on a few threads but I wanted to put this question officially out there. I stopped BC on Jan 1st after 7 years on it. We BD'd most of that time because I knew I wasn't going to be regular but I had heard of it working right away for some.
Well, here I am at CD 30 with no AF and no BFP (took two tests).
Is it even worth it to TTC or use OPKs until I get AF and track a regular cycle? Can we still get a BFP before this point? I guess I don't want to waste my energy obsessing if I might have to just wait until AF regularly comes back.
Thanks for the advice!
