I REALLY can’t stand the word “hubby” (more power to you if you can!). It feels like, I don’t know, just a “young” version of husband, if that makes any sense (like “icky” or “yucky”?). It really bothers me…but I may be crazy. 😉

Omgosh! I hate it too! I also hate “potty”, “comfy”, “veggies”…I don’t know why…but I just loathe these words!

I just don’t understand why you can’t just call him your husband. I mean, my husband & I have (very embarrassing!) nicknames for each other, but we don’t call each other that unless we’re alone. Hubby just…is awkward-sounding to me, I guess.

ME TOO! I hate hubby!
Also, “Prego” and “Preggers” make me want to gag. I don’t know why, and I don’t want to offend anyone who likes them but I hate them so much. Maybe it’s because I grew up in a really blue collar area where it seemed like 18-19 year old girls were always talking about being “preggers,” but it just seems so trashy to me.

@rachie205: +1 MILLION! Hahaha definitely not just you! I also totally hate this. A lot of the ‘bee abbreviations make me cringe too, like how the trying-to-conceive boards call sex “Baby Dance” (like “We BD’d last Tuesday!” or whatever). Nails on a freaking chalkboard.
ETA: Also hate “The Hubs,” like Hubby wasn’t cutesy enough. ;P

Whenever I see “hubs”, my brain automatically says “hubsand” to itself like five times and at no point has it ever figured out WHY people like it. I’m tempted to call married men hubsands just to jump on the “sounding like a fool” bandwagon.

@rachie205: Haha, I thought I was the only one. I like the word “hubby” as a cute pet name but I think “husband” sounds so much more masculine and romantic at the same time 😉

P.S. I don’t like “hubs” either. It has to register in my brain that it means husband. Bleh, I like proper English better. And don’t get me started on “Prego, Preggers, etc.” because it reminds of that Pausta Sauce called Prego. Weird?

I like the word hubby but I hate “wifey” and “my old lady”.
I hate “hubby” and I hate “wifey” even more! Why try to cutesy it up?! It’s ridiculous.

haha I often type “hubs” but I always say husband. He does call me wifey, and I don’t really mind. I’m not a fan of hubby, though.

Can I point out that your screen name is “Rachie”…which makes this thread kind of funny.

I don’t mind hubby, but wifey seems like what a guy says to his gf so she feels like his wife but isn’t actually his wife. Just me?
I HATE how hubby sounds too!!! I will say husband only lol
Post # 16
I don’t mind either hubby, hubs, wifey, etc. If I don’t like, I just won’t use it.
