Does your center stone look bigger to you in pics than you think it looks in person? It’s weird, I had a friend try on my ring and it looks so much bigger on her than it does on my own hand….is this the dredded DSS that I hear about??

YES 100% My girlfriend tried my ring on and it looked huge on her and always looks bigger in pics…I have had DDS for months and need my custom halo in the next 2 yrs or else I will go nuts

My entire ring always looks bigger in pictures… but then again, so does my hand in general!

@JessMorgan777: Probably DDS, and maybe your friend’s hand is smaller than yours?
I think diamonds look bigger in pics. I see the 2 carats on here and think WOW those are huge… but I tried one on and was like hmmm…not that big really.
I’m trying to be less concerned w. size… as long as I get something beautiful I’m not going to be too hung up on numbers.

@canarydiamond: I have a 3.5 finger…lol..nope her hand is not smaller, I think she wears a 4.5

Yep, when my friend was trying mine on it looked a lot bigger, and we have the same size fingers! I haven’t noticed that in pictures though. Can someone tell me what DDS stands for?

@JessMorgan777: I think the fresh perspective at looking at your ring from a different angle makes it appear bigger.
This can also be illustrated by the way women usually look at their own bodies in mirror: generally, straight on and from the side. But when we see a photo of ourselves from the 3/4 angle, we think, woah, how do I look that big? I looked just fine in the mirror this morning! Certain angles show more of the volume of a form. It’s all perspective.

So I’m not going crazy! Sometimes I see my diamond big, sometimes small and sometimes of normal size. I had my co-worker try it on, (we have the same size fingers) to see what it really looks like on my hand. I would love to ask her to try it on everyday but she would think I’m nuts!!

i think mine looks bigger in RL lol and it looks way bigger and sparklier on my mom’s hand, but then again her hands are not as stubby/puffy as mine

Yes, this is DSS…in pics I am shocked that it seems so big. But in real life I think 3.5ct is too small, lol.

I agree! They ALWAYS look bigger in photos!

Mine seems normal in pics on its own, but hand shots seem RIDICULOUS! I remember the very first blackberry pics I took the morning after, and posted on fb I thought “yikes that looks like it came out of a gumball machine!”

The diamond is closer to the lens than the setting and the hand are. Cameras don’t have the depth perception our eyes do so rather than appearing as a closer object it appears as a bigger object.
