...in their 2010 designer collections. I love the first one that pops up under new styles (the Oleg Cassini).
I don't usually promote DB but they seem to have come a long way with this year's collection.

My dress is actually one of the new 2010 DB dresses. Even though my mom was comfortable with $2000, I really wanted to keep my dress budget at $1000 or under, so I figured I may as well check DB. I honestly LOVE my dress and was happy enough with the service. The biggest perk was coming in WAY under my budget! :)
I saw one of the new '10 dresses on display during one of my recent trips to DB (I think it was CWG322), and it was really stunning... Even my friends were like "woooow", so I'd say yeah!
I was surprised when I saw their designer collection too! Very pretty!!
Yes! There are so many more options there now that I would have considered than when I was actually looking! ;)
I have an aversion to DB, thanks to my bridesmaid days, but I'm glad to hear they're stepping up their game. I bought my gown from a hole-in-the-wall-with-an-amazing-reputation store. I really do like the new DB commericals too!
They're 2010 collection is definitely looks better than ever! I wonder if the quality is any better now though?
My dress is a new db one - it's the galina. I was impressed with their 2010 collection too!
@miss yap: the dress that i love is a spring 2010 AA dress I lurve it!!!
Their dresses are pretty great now! I got mine from DB last year, and it's a reeeeally good quality dress! I love it!
I can't comment on their brides' dresses since my not-so-hot experience was with the old line, but their BM dresses seem a lot nicer this year! So much so my girls fell in love with a dress there as opposed to the boutique where I bought my dress (and it was only a $35 difference!).
I was quite surprised to see the latest collection... I looked and then said, "Is that really David's?" The quality looks to be a bit better, and their photography has gotten better too which, I think, gives the dresses a better first impression.
I personally think they have stepped it up quite a bit. I was looking at their new line and I was really impressed
I was thinking this too! Both Davids and AA. I have always been a hater, b/c they looked cheap and the service stunk, but their new additions make me want to give them a shot!
I've been in David's a lot the past few weeks for my BM and the Mom's and the new collection looks so amazing! I've developed a bit of dress envy over the new line. I got my dress from David's last spring and I love it, it is simple and elegant but I kind of wanted to try one of the new ones on when I was there the other day.
@heather25... my dress is Style: J9869
I was looking for an organza or chiffon dress without lots of beading. My mom and I are redoing the pearl brooch detail (taking off the beading and adding an organza flower with crystal accents). I felt this dress perfectly fit my summery, beachy wedding. I love it! Pics....
I've noticed recently that their dresses actually look really, really good! Some styles I'm still kinda "Meh" about but overall they've totally improved!
This season is "better" but the quality and construction is still lacking, imho. For years, every once in a while there is a "really, that's a davids dress?" however... For the price, I would much rather spend an extra little bit for the quality. Don't even get me started on their shade of "off white." bleh ;-)
I don't like how they unabashedly knock off other designers. That third dress (in new arrivals) with with little tiers of English netting is an exact replica of a Jasmine dress from last year.
Wow ... I never really thought it would bother me, but it's a little disheartening to hear people feel negatively about your dress... I guess there's something for everyone, though! Right? I've never been one to buy designer anything, so I guess that aspect just didn't matter much to me. Hopefully on my wedding day, FI and everyone else will just think I look pretty in my dress and not really care where it's from! :)
I think they have some cute new dresses! I also think their photography is better.
@beachbride0810 - My comment wasn't meant to be a knock against your dress at all, hope you didn't take it that way. I think you look gorgeous in it. What I was trying to say is that the design copying that DB does bothers me on principal. I was referring to a specific dress that I saw on their website because I've tried the original and they're identical, but I know they do this with most of their dresses. If I was a designer for a different line I wouldn't like to see my creation sold under the DB brand a few months later. I've also never been impressed with the quality of the fabrics in the past but it's totally possible this has improved in the newer collections like everyone else has commented.
@meliss ... no, no, no! I didn't mean your comment in particular! I completely get what you're saying. I was just surprised that it bothered me that people may have negative feelings about my dress quality, color, etc... But, like I said there's something for everyone! And I like my dress ... and hopefully FI and everyone will think I'm beautiful that day, regardless! Thanks for the compliment, too! :)
@meliss - They completely ripped off a Badgley Mischka dress. But, that doesn't mean that I don't love a lot of their other dresses and will probably get my dress from there.
@beachbride0810- I love this dress! I have been eyeing a DB dress for a couple of weeks online ok stalking it and found out it was sold out. bummer i thought. well i still kept checking and then DB announced that they were extending their $99 sale and I called the local store today and they have one left! I realize my budget is very small and my dress wasnt the top priority! I think what it comes down to me is it doesnt matter the price tag or where you get it from as long as you feel Beautiful in it thats all that matters!
I walked into DB last month for my BFF's appt and was totally impressed!! I already bought my dress but I was surprised at the new collection they carried!! When I went there last summer I didn't like anything I tried on, but now they're trying to be in competition with all the other dress labels!!
i'm impressed with their new line but i'm still scarred by a bad bridesmaid dress shopping experience.
@beachbride - i think your dress is beautiful!
as far as the knockoffs - it happens everywhere with everything and i dont see why brides with smaller budgets should have to settle for less beautifully designed dresses just because they cant afford $5K for the designer dress.
it seems DB had filled a market for the more money savy bride i applaude that - and yes, this years dresses are looking good
Yes yes, I have to agree that some of the newer dresses have been gorgeous...and perhaps I would have given DB a shot with my dress shopping if they would have had those in stock last year when I was shopping! Single tear!
I bought my dress is July and did not find ANYTHING at David's. However I was there over the weekend buying a crinoline, and there were several dresses that are GORGEOUS. I love my Casablanca though :)
I agree whole heartedly. Everyone knocks off somenoe. just go to your local clothing stores! But i am actually happy in a sense that they do! I cant afford that huge price tag like some others can. but just because i dont pay much for a dress doesnt mean i should look bad! ;)
I know I'm the odd one on this and I respect everyone's opinion...And kudos to those of you that scored beautiful dresses at great prices! However I think there's a difference between being inspired and copying something exactly like Puggy's pic shows. And I'm not saying anyone should settle because they can't pay $5K, but isn't it possible to come up with an original design that is pretty without knocking off someone else's?
Sorry if I'm ticking anyone off, I'm having a bad day at work and am irritated with the world today:)
@beachbride--
I totally understand the feeling. I don't post often--I'm more of a lurker :) -- but all the comments that slam David's Bridal kinda get to me. I too got my dress there, and I still love it, despite the negativity regarding DB.
As for quality, it passed the mom test for craftmanship. And as she's not only my mom but a former dress buyer--that's good enough for me. :)
Hopefully, the FI will be happy with it too!
i know what you mean about davids bridal stepping up their game. i tried on several last year and they were bleh i swore i wouldn't get my dress there. I just picked up my dress monday from the davids it's in the 2010 collection it's the one with the pockets. I love it. While i'm sure it's sort of a nock off of the Priscilla of Bostons vinyard collection i love it i really wanted the priscilla but could really afford the davids.
I totally agree! I've seen some not-so great dresses there in the past but yes, they've definitely stepped it up!Plus the sale they're having right now is AWESOME. :)
