Yes. Heh and on a somewhat unrelated, but related note, my brother got married this summer and changed into flip flops for his reception. ....he got married no where near a beach!
Of course! As long as they are nice flip flops I think it is a great idea!
Yes definitely ok for a beach wedding... he can even go barefoot and no one will blink an eye.
Definitely! We're getting married on the beach and both plan on going the 'nice' flip flop route :) I'd hate to wear 'real' shoes on a beach!
Absolutely. My partner really wanted to get married in boardshorts and flip flops, but when we decided to go a little upscale on the wedding he wore the outfit for the rehearsal!
absolutely! It's totally appropriate (and so much better than getting sand in your shoes!)
sure why not! my hubby wore his dirty disgusting smelly volleys (sneakers) so let the groom be happy
yep, very common. my FI got some nice leather flip-flops for our beach wedding :)
I don't see why not. They're more appropriate for walking on sand than regular dress shoes. Most people wouldn't bat an eye at them if they even notice in the first place.
yes! we both got nice flip flop/sandals to wear at the wedding but we may go barefoot for the ceremony. and he keeps trying to say he is wearing gym shorts and a white tee!
I think it is fine. You could do boat shoes without socks, too, if you want something a little dressier.
of course, flip flops were made for the beach... I think barefoot would be even better though!
I'm gonna say no, but feet creep me out so I'm biased. lol.
i'm a dissenter. i think the whole men (and girls, too!) in flip-flops constantly thing is totally a 1990s-2000's trend that will look icky-icky in another few years' time. (like an unbuttoned shirt in the 1970s, with the chest hairs hanging out, looked normal then and now looks cheesey-cheese-ball. LOL.) everyone's been flip-flopping around for, like 12 years now... but the trend will end. and you will have these pix forever with big ole man toes hanging out.
so i vote: white or tan or gold-brown shoes. or even those covered-up cool leather grown-up-man-on-the-Adriatic-coast fisherman sandals, if it's a super-duper-casual outfit. or even sneakers. Or even just bare feet, if it's totally totally totally necessary. flip flops = ick-dated, in about five more minutes.
sorry y'all -- just another
opinion.
I find flip flops in loose sand to be cumbersome-either leather sandals or barefoot-when you walk in loose sand, it gets under your foot and between the flop and your foot and can sling sand up the back of your leg and can make walking difficult.
heck yea! No one wants sand in their shoes. Brown leather flip flops are really nice.
I think it's totally fine! @ sleepylittlesailor - you cracked me up with the chest hair and big ol man toes!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not a fan of men in flip-flops in general. I wanted to be barefoot though...my fiance said that was a no-go for the ceremony but we can kick off our shoes and take some photos afterwards. We both will be wearing shoes for the ceremony but afterward...all bets are off
For sure!! Get those super cute ones that make a "just married" imprint in the sand :) :)
We wanted to go barefoot, but the sand is too hot in the caribbean, so we're doing "nice" flip flops for everyone. Shoes would be nice, but so impractical for a beach wedding!
If not barefoot, than, YES, Totally OK! Shoes... NO GO! Under no reason should he or any groomsmen wear shoes. It looks plain weird :-0
This post makes me laugh because its a joke between my fiance and I! He always jokes about wearing flip flops at our wedding. I had this real disgust for flip flops on guys when we first started dating. Ive gotten used to it because he loves them so much. Normally i would say they have no place at a wedding, but getting married in the sand with dress shoes would be weird too. I cant imagine getting all that sand in your shoes!
I think they look very cute , speccially if you have them designed with your personal touch or monogram. i bought them from www.partyflops.com

what about Birkenstocks or knock-offs? I was a BM in a wedding where the men wore cheap-o Birk look-alikes with their tuxedos, and it was really cute!
I think it would be fine as long as the flip flops were in good taste. Spongy ones probably would look out of place...
I don't know...I guess if he's wearing like beach pants then yes, but in a tux..I think it would look out of place. just my opinion though.
I say flip flops are fine especially if everyone else is wearing them. FSIL just got married on a beach in October and her hubby and his best man wore a khaki suit with nice leather flip flops. She also wore flip flops... The only one out of place was the MOH who wore 3 inch tall high heals for some reason- talk about uncomfy on a beach
