I sent out invites this week, and one of my friends told me she will be coming! I sent her an invite with just her name under rsvp. but then I remembered that she may still be with her long time bf, but was not sure. When she text me, I said ” im so sorry, but are you still with your bf? please feel free to bring him! I was not sure thats why”
she then said “haha ok we will see”
did I cause any offense? Would this be ok?

@skschick: That’s not offensive. I think it was actually considerate to call and give her the option.

That should be fine. If she does get offended (which is her own choice), then you can simply explain that with all the stress of wedding planning and you not keeping in touch with her that often, that you simply forgot to put her boyfriend’s name on the invitation.
We sent out invitations with the wrong names on them, missed a few partners…mistakes happen. It’s not the end of the world.

@skschick: Nope, not offensive at all – I think it’s really considerate of you!

Etiquette Snob here…
You did fine.
It was nice of you to remember him… doesn’t matter that you made the oversight originally… and to let her know when she said she was planning to come (BONUS POINTS for her being so polite as to not say anything to you… inquiring as to the status of her invite as a Single vs Plus One)
Hope this helps,

You did what you should have : ) I hear you though, I am constantly afraid I am offending someone. I can’t wait for this to be over!!
