I REALLY love Canon in D by Pachelbel and would LOVE to Walk to that, but I don't know if that would be OK. I mean, I know it's my wedding and all but..

I just think that song is THE most beautiful classical song ever.

Personally, I think the traditional bridal march song is blah.

    Any comments?

You can walk to whatever music you want!  I walked to "The Way You Look Tonight" though I don't really remember hearing it when I was walking because my heart was beating out of my chest!

Sure...you can walk down to any song, unless you are doing your ceremony at a church that has restrictions. Then you might have to choose among their selections

I'm not even allowed to walk to the wedding march (Catholic church!). You hear it in the movies all the time, but its not used- or allowed- a lot of the time. You should pick whatever you want.

Sure! I have not decided yet, but Canon in D is one of the two songs I have chosen for my walk down the aisle.

You can walk to whatever you want! My FI is Jewish so the traditional Bridal Chorus is beyond out considering Wagner was a hardcore anti-Semite.

You can walk to whatever you want to! Alot of people choose not to walk to the here comes the bride song. I agree Im not really into that song at all. I know I will not be walking down the aisle to that song.

    YAY!

Well, there we have it lol! I will double check with the wedding coordinator at my church and make sure that it's ok, but I think as long as it's not mainstream music they will be fine with it. She said we can bring instrumental cd's :)

I guess I'll just let them figure out how to arrange it and at what point in the song I will be walking to because the beginning of that song is very soft and it's not the best part - the most beautiful part is mid-song. OOOhh I can hear it already!

    Thanks everyone!!!!

I agree with you I think the bridal march is kinda blah too!!

I love Canon in D, im actually gonna use that for when my bridesmaids, groomsmen etc walk to.

ME , on the other hand Im using something really different but its got a meaning behind it.... Iam having both of my parents walk me down, to "UNCHAINED MELODY" the piano version, I think its beautiful and the reason I am using this song is because its my parents wedding song , they got married in 1976 and they are still together.http://pianobrothers.com/Music/ThroughTheYears/index.asp

Click on the link above and then click on UNCHAINED MELODY to hear my "bridal march" song!!

    Yay! I am officially excited!

The wedding coordinator said that would be perfectly fine and they've even had people walk down the aisle to the "boomer sooners" song LOL!

I told her I wasn't going to go that far LOL

Anyways, OK now I know that part of it is in place.

    Whew!

@Decemberbride - congrats! I see you are RIGHT behind me :) YAY!!!

That is a VERY popular song to walk down to. I actually think that is what I'm going to walk to. You can have any song you want though, its your day! I love that video on you tube of the couple that dances down the isle to Forever by Chris Brown!

I walked to Canon in D and have been to a lot of weddings that have also used it.  I actually kinda felt like I should choose something else because I had heard it a lot at weddings but then decided to still use it because I love that song!

I am planning on walking down to Canon in D. I love it and it's going to be at a Catholic church and they have some strict rules about music but they do allow Canon in D.

It's absolutely okay to use something other than the Wedding March.  I didn't want that or Canon because they were too common.

LOL... I'm actually worried about walking down the aisle to Canon in D because it is TOO common as a bridal processional.  In the end I am going with it anyways though because I love it.

Sure, I think Canon in D is pretty common actually. My Bridesmaids walked down to Canon in D and I walked down to Lo, How a Rose Er Blooming, which is technically a Christmas song (my wedding was in June, LOL.) I think as long as your venue approves (if its a church) go for what you want!

Contrary to popular belief, you can use anything you want, even if it has lyrics. The only exception would be if you were marrying in a church as most of them have restrictions on what you can and can't use. If you are marrying anywhere else, you can use whatever your heart desires.

Haha, sure you can walk to any music you want, but you'd have to be pretty bold to put on "walk this way" by Aerosmith Tongue out

I personally think Canon in D is more popular in real life weddings. I've only heard the Wedding March played at weddings in movies. The wedding ceremony music you choose is ultimately up to you. I agree with you that Canon in D is a beatiful classic. I say go for it!

i've heard the wedding march in a couple of weddings but those were also with much older brides. the brides that were closer to my age have been all over the board. i want to walk down to canon in d. i never really thought about it until i was walking across the bart station [it's the subway in the sf bay area] and a string trio was playing it and i got goosebumps. definitely a sign.

but pick whatever song moves you!

Canon in D is a very popular wedding ceremony song. GO for it. If it makes you happy while you're walking down the aisle...that's what you should do!

At either Catholic or Jewish weddings, "Here Comes the Bride" is actually frowned on.  So if you want something else, go with it!

Hi bees.... I too am walking down to Canon in D and absolutely love it and am NOT a fan of the bridal march. For those of you that love Canon in D but want something different check this version out. It is amazing. Another fellow bee gave me the link. Not only am I walking down to it but so are my bridesmaids. The best part is that I can walk down to the best part. (I will start at around 1:45 and finish at 3:00) Let me know what you think!

Amazing -  this Canon in D/U2 mix
