Is it okay that we want people to be comfortable?

I don’t think it’s odd.. its pretty common to see mismatched bridesmaids these days, and I’ve seen a few mismatched grooms as well.

It’s totally thoughtful for you to let them where what they like [within reason/colors]

@Glorificous:  by comfortably, you mean they can choose their ensemble within your colour parameters, correct?

When I initially read your post, I thought you meant they could dress “casually.”

@Glorificous:  Nothing wrong with that! In fact it’s the ultimate way to show your friends why you want them there, to support you and stand by you, not to be photo props. You seem like a great friend.

@Glorificous:  I would also be confused.  I would want more guidance, like do you mean a low heel and a neckline that is flattering to me?  Or can I wear Toms with my dress/pantsuit?  Or do you truly mean go all out and wear a sweat suit and flip flop ensemble if that’s what I want?

If I was in your bridal party, I would want to talk to the other bridesmaids and try to be at a similar level of formality because that’s what would make me comfortable.

@Glorificous:  Maybe go to a hardware store and grab a couple of paint swatches in your wedding colours that you can give to them, just to give them a bit of guidance.

@Glorificous:  I’d need more guidance, when you said comfort i was thinking jeans and a hoodie! people’s interpretations are very different so at least say whether guys should wear slacks/khakis, girls wear dresses of a certain formality, etc.

I think I would also appreciate at least some guidance beyond color. Maybe pick out a designer or go to David’s Bridal and say “any short dress in this color” or something like that.
