Don’t feel bad I don’t even want to spend more than $6,000 when my day comes! I do want a kickass honeymoon though 😛

Definitely! I know tons of brides who did it for around that price. We’re having ours in Punta Cana at a restaurant (not at the AI, they actually upcharge you for almost everything!) and that’s definitely doable!

we had it at a resort that offers it but we didnt personally go that direction. when pricing it out we found it to be cheaper to just pay per drink and we also spent a lot of time off resort property at outside restaurants.

@Laurenskii:  Depending how many people you have – like every chair sash, every little thing you want for the decor, etc. is an upcharge.  They also usually charge you for dinner and drinks even though all your guests paid for it and it’s not cheap ($70 for dinner to start) or you can do a dinner inside one of the restaurants with everyone else/have your guests go to the bars if you do a private dinner but don’t pay extra for the drinks. It really depends on the resort, it’s not always worth it. That’s why I’m doing it off-resort, it’s much cheaper. There’s also an outside vendor fee if you bring people that they don’t use (your own photographer, a hair/makeup artist instead of the salon, etc).

@Laurenskii:  right?? Having a nice place to live versus center pieces and flowers for one day…hmmm this is a hard choice. Glad there are other practical women out there! I dont feel as bad now haha

@Laurenskii:  I don’t think you will! DWs are actually a lot easier than you think. You just have to be smart about it and do your research! And join groups and boards with brides doing DWs and you’ll have tons of info! PM me if you want.

@Laurenskii:  check out bestdestinationwedding.com and on facebook, there are groups – since I’m doing it in Punta Cana at the Jellyfish Restaurant, I joined the group “J.Fish Brides” and “Jellyfish Restaurant Punta Cana.” The most popular resort to have your wedding there is Majestic Elegance, so I joined that group too (Majestic Elegance Brides), but I’m having it at another resort – the information is still helpful though.
