I think that’s great esp. if that’s what you want and it works for you!

I think it’s great that you’re so organized in advance.  I think the only risks are if you are the fickle type who will second guess your decisions and end up buying 17 dresses and wasting time doing tasks 5 times over.  The other risk is if you lose your flexibility – it’s great if you have a vision for everything, but it’s even more important to be able to roll with the punches and still enjoy your wedding if someone forgets to bring the table runners.

@rrweddingday15:  If it weren’t for money, I’d be right there with you. I want everything planned yesterday so I don’t have to worry about it when we get down to the wire.

We just went through this and no matter how organized we were, that last week kicked our butts.  It just kind of sneaks up on you.  It seems like you have all the time in the world, then BAM! Wedding Day!

    Keep up the good work.

I think you’re on the right track. I did the same as in preparing most vendors within a 24-12 months time frame. Money wise and time wise it helped a lot!

I don’t think you can be too organized except if it stresses you out a lot.  Like if you fret over every detail endlessly, feeling like that is “being organized,” you can get super stressed.  You’ve got the big things done which are the most imporant.  Some small things can be important, but a lot can be not-important.  Causing yourself too much stress over things of low importance can take a toll emotionally.

On the other hand, preparation pays off!  I was very organized myself.  Everything in our wedding ran on time and as expected.  There were no delays or problems.  Smooth as silk!

I voted YES, but that was really based only on the thread title question, b/c I answered it in my head before reading the rest.

Whatever works for you, hon. Why question what you’re doing if it’s getting stuff done and making you happy?

I think it’s great that your organized! and money is a big motivation to do so. We also booked our venue a year and a half before the actual wedding date. But it has saved us lots of money because each year prices get higher and so we booked with the 2013 prices :).

@rrweddingday15:  i’m like you, super organized, big stuff checked off super early.  Most of my vandors have been really impressed that I’m trying to get stuff out of the way.  They said it will definitely make things easier (maybe they’re just kissing my butt) but I really don’t want to spend 2 weeks before my wedding stressing out.  I’m with you -keep on top of it!
