I just recently got engaged and we decided to not have the wedding until the summer of 2012. Even though I have a ton of time to search for a dress I decided to stop by a store today and try some dresses on by myself. The the consultant I had did a great job recognizing my style. It was probably the second dress I tried on that I thought…this may be THE ONE! The consultant completely agreed. She was very honest with me on all of the dresses I tried on. But I seriously LOVED the dress and it was at a great price point. Part of me just wants to say go with it and not stress out about finding a dress from here on out. Since my family lives in Chicago and my best friends are scattered over the country, I’m sending pics of me in the dress to my mom, sister and best friends. And of couse I’m going to have my local girlfriends see it on me. But is it possible I found THE DRESS on the first day of dress shopping? Any thoughts on this?

I would have to see you in it to give you my opinion what it looks like on you but, yes it is possible. I found my gown at the first salon I went to and I only tried on 5 gowns. I think it was the 4th gown I tried on. And I purchased it 1 1/2 years before our wedding.

i say go for it but make sure you dont carry on trying things on or keep looking at pics or you’ll get serious dress envy!

I think it is definitely possible! The first day I looked I found 2 that I was ok with but was really unsure as didn’t have the oh my gosh this is it feeling.
I have only been one more time and I am 99% sure I have found mine! If you have that feeling then go for it.
@mrs puffafish: I agree – if you do end up getting it then definitely stop looking!

My dress was the 2nd one I tried on. 🙂 I did the same thing as you, I wasnt even really looking for one. I happened to have my Mum with me at the time and we both just knew it was that one!! I say wait a week or two and then go back and see if you still love it. Take a couple of friends that will give you constructive critisism too. 🙂

I found mine on the first day and I purchased it too!! I tried on a total of about 6-7 dresses and it was dress #5. I loved it then, I loved it when I got it in my hot little hands, I loved it at my wedding and I love it still today! 😀

I bought the very first dress I tried on and didn’t need or want to try anything else! However, I did do a lot of research online beforehand so I went in knowing what i wanted.

I think it’s absolutely possible, but I’d recommend going to more stores and trying others on because you don’t lose anything by doing this.
I found mine on my second trip to a bridal salon. But I kept trying dresses on later, and it just helped me realize how perfect the other one was when I didn’t see anything else I really loved.

Its possible! I hope that it is perfect for you.

@[email protected]: Yeah it’s possible and I’ve heard about 70% of brides choose the first dress they try on.

Yup! I went to one store, tried on a total of 6 dresses and my dress was #5

Yes it is! My dress was the very first dress I ever tried on! Of course I tried on others to make sure it was the dress for me but ended up coming back to that one because it was “the one”.

I bought my dress 1 1/2 yrs before- went to a bridal shop that stocked a dress I’d fallen in love with in a magazine. Tried her on. Loved her. Didn’t want to take her off. Bought her! Did try on one more in a similar style to make sure (always knew I wanted a tulle ballgown) but knew dress 1 was the one for me and then she was mine!
Have to say though I spent months looking at millions of dresses online, know what suits me and am very decisive with things like this so know I won’t have dress regret. People are different, but you seem sure so I say- go for it! Good luck!

To you question… absolutely! If you love it, then get it. I didn’t quite buy my dress on the first day. I went to DB about a week before my mom and FMIL came down for a day of shopping so I could get an idea of what I liked – definitely not intending to buy a dress and I didn’t really like anything I tried on, but I guess that was oficially my first day of shopping. But then the next week when mom and FMIL came down and we went shopping, and I found my dress. The fourth or fifth one I tried on that day.
