I can’t vote but I would say no!  Happy tears is a super cute idea and you should definately do it.

Eh, I would probably roll my eyes, it’s a little too contrived and Pinterest-y for my taste.

I’ve been at a wedding where there was a tissue at each seat in the ceremony with a drawing of a couple and a caption ‘for tears of joy’. I though it was cute and sweet. (I didn’t need to use it though…)

Yeah I would think it was a bit odd.

People might tear up, but they’re not going to be sobbing. Cute idea but unnecessary.

I think people generally now if they’re likely to cry and they’ll bring tissues if the need to. A personalised handkerchief might be a nice favour but otherwise I wouldn’t include anything.

I don’t think it’s pretentious but I do think one lonely tissue by itself is going to look random and odd. I wouldn’t do this.

The word I’d use is presumptuous =D If I were a guest I’d probably think just that, but I wouldn’t hold it against the couple or anything… I just know that I’d never cry at a wedding, personally. But who knows, maybe everyone else does?

I think the word you might have wanted is ‘precious’?

yes, it’s precious, so you will naturally have some people squealing with joy at the cuteness of it, and others rolling their eyes.

That said, some people get a serious cry on at weddings, and with all the makeup and so on the results aren’t pretty. Yes, put a happy tears tissue in your program!
