Just recently pregnant and already thinking of names! Crazy I know but what do you ladies think when people give babys first names that start with the same letter as their last name. For example: Sophie Smith, Andrew Anderson, Declan Dodge, Colton Cooper. Do you think it’s weird or is it fine?

missstarling: Why would that be weird? It’s fine! 🙂

I don’t think that’s weird at all.

missstarling: I don’t think it weird at all although I don’t think I personally would do it. A lady I used to work with named her daughter with both the first, middle and last name starting with the same letter. I’m not a fan of that (particularly as the initials are the name of one of the main radio stations in our city) but it’s her kid!

My maiden name had a different letter than my first name. Now that I’m married, it’s the same letter. My initials are PDP, sounds like a drug. No big deal.

I don’t see a problem with it. But it does bug me when the first name ends with the first letter of the last name ie. Fred Durst, they just become one weird word

missstarling: I hope not! My husband and I both have double J’s for our names. I do think it can depend on the name though, like the same name twice, like Mark Marks wouldn’t be great, or Richard Richards… Otherwise it’s fine. Just don’t rhyme them!

wandering_gypsy: what about Marky Mark? Are you trying to say he’s not cool? 🙂

Thanks! I picked out a name that I loved a long time ago, and thought that is definatly what I would use. Then I met my husband whose last name is the same initial. I did really find it went well togetjer but I still love the name

I hope not! My first name and last name start with the same letter, as do my parents and brother’s! It was unintentional but our whole family have matching initials. AND my soon-to-be married name also starts with the same letter. I can’t escape it! 😀

I had the same letter for my first and last name before I was married….its how I got my nickname!

My initials were SAC & now they’re SAS. I happen to think both last names work well with my first name ..I may also be biased haha. But my dad’s name is similar to Karl & his last name/my maiden name is similar to Clark ..both with the same sound & his name is also still nice 😉

Color me weird if it is… I am DD. I even kept my last name because I like it so much!

Meh it is fine but I wouldn’t do it, nor would I do it to a child. They will get picked on most likely
