I wouldn’t use the word “tacky”, but if one of my married friends got a new engagement ring, I’d raise an eyebrow.

What about your ring makes you feel embarrassed?

Kaedyn:  I don’t think its tacky per se and of course you want to like something that you wear on your hand every day. For me though I guess I just wouldn’t see it as an engagement ring anymore because it’s not the ring you got when you became engaged (or soon thereafter). For me, I’d just see it as another ring.

Kaedyn:  People upgrade their rings all the time. Honestly, I have no idea why anyone cares what someone wears on their left hand. It isn’t like it effects them in the least. Can we see a pic?

I’m just curious though….why don’t you want a wedding band?

I don’t think it’s tacky at all!! Luckily my husband and I are on the same page and we both do not put any sentimental value on our rings. We have both upgraded our rings and they still hold the same value as the originals. As long as you and your husband are on the same page, I say get a ring you are happy with. There are no rules that you should follow and no ones opinion matters more than your own.

Kaedyn:  I say upgrade it. Pick something out that you love, that suits your personality. And then call that your wedding band. I see people wearing a diamond for their wedding ring all the time and no one says anything about it. Might as well wear something you love the rest of your life.
