No its not terrible. There is nothing wrong with Friday being the 12th, 13th or 14th. The only thing that is actually wrong with Friday the 13th other than the string of really terrible movies.
I would only say it was unlucky if your actual wedding was on that day. You'll be fine.
Maybe it's just me but I don't know anyone anywhere who is superstitious at all so they wouldn't even think twice about a date like that.
Dont worry about it! Like a previous post said, the only terrible about that day is the string of awful movies. I really can never recall anything bad happening on that day.
At some point along the way I decided that Friday the 13th's were going to be lucky for me. (If they're so bad for everyone else, that unused good luck has to be going some where, right? ;-) I'd be all about it myself.
I honestly don't understand why this is even an issue for you. I say go with the date you want. "Luck" has nothing to do with whether or not your marriage works.
I've never followed this idea ... of Friday 13th being unlucky. I guess it was before "my time" .... I've never even seen Friday the 13th =)
Considering that I was born on friday the 13th - I don't consider it unlucky at all! I'm not sure why having it the day before your wedding would even be a concern!
I was born on a Wednesday the 13th but my birthday falls on Fridays sometimes... I have never had bad luck and don't believe in this superstition at all! Don't hate on the number 13, haha! :)
Thanks everybody! I just needed a little validation. That's what Weddingbee is good for!
My family always believed that Fri. the 13th was lucky! So I say go for it. ;)
Only if your wedding is in a foresty area near a lake and there's rumors of a crazy axe murderer lurking about.
I personally love Friday the 13ths. Super fun and exciting since they don't happen very often. Just do not get married on a Feb 29th...that would suck only celebrating your wedding once every four years.
I'm not all that superstitious but I'd say since it's not actually your wedding day, you're good to go!
Go for it! There is no real reason not to, superstitious or not!

So we are in the process of picking a date. We decided we wanted May. The first weekend is too unpredictable and the last weekend is memorial day. The third weekend is graduation weekend and is CRAZY busy (I've already called around). That leaves the second weekend, which works because Saturday is the 14th and we got engaged on the 14th. It occurred to me though that the day before (when everyone is traveling) is FRIDAY THE 13th. Is this terrible??
