Is it weird to only have 1 or 2 bridesmaids?

jolieqe:  Not weird at all. OK I’m in Australia, but I only had two (best friend and sister). My brother in law and his wife had none. If people have more, that’s fine, but there’s nothing wrong with a small number of close friends. The wedding is about the bride and groom, not the bridesmaids.

I only want two as well, my MOH and one bridesmaid and it works cuz my FI is having two also. I was wondering if it’s weird too but the I figured it’s my wedding day and I shouldn’t have extra people standing up beside me for guests perception of what’s normal. Have as little or as many as you want.

Nope, this isn’t weird. My sister only had a MOH (me) and in no way was this weird.

Kate Middleton only had one ( + flowergirsl and page boys). Nothing wierd about that wedding.

We had no one. It was perfect for us. I dont think it would be wierd at all.

I’m only having 2, and one of them is a close male friend! The way I see it is that bridesmaids are there to give the bride moral support, help the bride with her dress, makeup touches, bouquet etc so I think 1-3 bridesmaids are perfect. Some people might have a lot of bridesmaids because they have lots of close friends and don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings by leaving them out.

I don’t think people will be thinking your wedding party looks ‘weird’, they’ll be there to celebrate you and your new hubby 🙂

I’m having 2! They are my two closest friends and we are kind of like the 3 musketeers so I have co-maids of honour 🙂

Nope! I am only have 2 stand by my side. My sister (MOH), and FSIL (BM). We’re having a small cermony (40 people), and I felt anymore than the two would be too much. Plus, the ceremony is all family, so this also keeps it in the family.
