Is my luteal phase too short

That’s generally at a bare minimum, but still acceptable. I’ve been charting/TTC since June, and this is now my third cycle. I recently came off of birth control, in my case, but even considering that, it looks like my LP is generally 10/11 days long.

I have heard people say that a shorter LP could be indicative of low progesterone levels…which could in turn mean an increased risk of miscarriage.

However, at 10 days, I wouldn’t think that’s certainly a given.

How old are you? If you’re approaching your mid-30s – since you have 6 or 7 cycles’ worth of charting – maybe you want to talk to your doctor about it. I’d hate to give you incomplete advice, and you spend months trying to get pregnant when really you just need intervention first.

@futuremrscollette:  I believe 14 is average and 10 is the minimum. I’d def talk to your dr about it. I’m in my first cycle charting and I was soooo happy to finally O and now I’m counting my luteral phase days hoping to get to 10 lol

@futuremrscollette:  Most sources will say 10 days is the minimum acceptable LP length. Coming off BCPs my LP was initially 7-8 days then gradually lengthened to 10 days, which is when I got my BFP. If you want to try something, adding B6 (100mg once daily in conjunction with a B complex vitamin) will lengthen the LP in some women by a couple days.

10 is the minimum in order for the pregnancy to stick.  I started with a 7 day LP and by taking 100mb B6 with a B-Complex vitamin I got mine up to 10 days and then pregnant.

Good luck!

@futuremrscollette:  They say to take a lot of B6 to help lengthen a LP. 100mg is perfectly safe, despite being much more than you need. It’ll make your pee very yellow, but that’s it. 🙂 Good luck!

@futuremrscollette:  I would think if you’ve been off since feb it would be regulated by now, it seems most people take a few months. Although some do take longer. It couldn’t hurt to mention it to the dr and see what they say.
