I am getting married next Saturday (passes out)!!! I am planning on having 3 or 4 days before the wedding freed up. I want to be done with buying stuff and doing any DIY projects. I only want to get my nails done the day before, set up the church, have the rehearsal and dinner, get my hair and make-up done on the day before and day of. That’s it!! Is it possible? Does anyone plan to have free days or did you actualyl get to have any? How did it go..what did you do?

I had free time :o)
Three days before the wedding, I had a doctor’s appt and spray tan, then we flew up to my family’s house. Two days before the wedding, we drove to the island and picked up our marriage license, then had a chill dinner with family.
We did have a DOC, though, so I didn’t have any responsibilities once we got to the town other than having fun…

You are sooo close!! Yay!
I plan to have free days too, but I’m also not sure if I am being overly optimistic and naive haha.

I do! I want everything done by Wednesday. I am getting married on Saturday and rehearsal dinner on Friday. On Thursday I am having a massage and picking up my dress. On Friday I will have my nails done and stuff but that’s it. I am also going to the hotel by myself on Friday after the rehearsal for alone time. I just want some peace!

We’re driving about 16 hours to our home town before the wedding (which is another flight to mexico). We’re giving ourselves 1 travel (driving) day and 3 spare days before we fly out. We’re using the spare days to get organized, for me to get my hair cut and colored, and nails 🙂 FI is also going to visit with friends who can’t make the wedding. This will also be the coupld of “emergency” days I have to alter my dress in case the final alteration isn’t a good fit (crossing fingers).
I think it’s completely normal to need a few extra days to get organized and to help calm some of those nerves. Iknow if I had to work up to that dreaded travel day and then hop on a plane I’d be wanting to die!!

I think I will have only 2 days to myself. Then it’s hair, nails, family comes to town, etc etc.

I only took 2 days off before the wedding and it was the biggest mistake I made! Take ALL the days you can get!!! The DIY projects take longer than we think, details get missed….things come up, etc… It was sooooooooo AWFUL!! I was counting on all of my BM’s to come 2 nights before (even ordered pizza’s, had drinks and junk food ready) and only 1 showed up! Yes, only 1 of 7! Grant it, helping the bride isn’t mandatory but that was a huge set back for me. My 1 friend left at 3:00 a.m. and I didn’t get to bed until almost 6:00 a.m., then I had to get up at 7:30 a.m. to load my truck to go down to the hall to set up! Even then, we had no help =( It was just my DH and one of my daughters. I swear, the lack of sleep and the tiredness I felt was making me hallucinate…all this the day before the wedding! So again, TAKE ALL YOU CAN GET!

So, baiscally everyone agrees that it’s not only necessary, but doable!! WOOHOO!!! I am so determined, lol

Yes it is definitely doable! I am working Monday and Tuesday of one week, and taking the next two weeks off. Our wedding is on a Friday 🙂

It’s totally doable. Just plan the days leading up to when you want to start your days off carefully! I think I ended up with 3 free-ish days before the wedding (only having to do things like put brownies in the favour boxes, which took all of 10 minutes).

I plan to take the week prior to my wedding off!! I also plan to have everything DONE one month before. I want to relax and only put fires out. I have things pretty well planned, so I am very optimistic. Get as much rest as you can before your wedding day, so you can enjoy it.

I am going to get married on a saturday and I am taking the wednesday through friday beforehand off. I am also taking two days off AFTER we get back from the honeymoon…just to get back in the swing of things 🙂 so about a week and a half!

I’m saving up my vacation time so I have some free time before the wedding.

I took off Weds,Thurs,Fri before my wedding – I wouldnt say any day was a “free” day. On Wednesday we put together all of the out of town gift bags, organized all of the stuff into ‘wedding’ and ‘rehearsal dinner’ piles and put them into boxes and labeled them so we knew where things were. On Thursday people started arriving. Thursday during the day we went to the venue to do a final walk through, had an immediate family only dinner and delivered all of our out of town bags to the hotel and to the houses people were staying in. I also dropped off my dress to be steamed. Friday was the day of the rehearsal dinner – I got my nails done with my mom and my girls, went to lunch with a bunch of people, cut sunflowers and put them into mason jars for our rehearsal dinner, helped take things to the rehearsal dinner site and got ready and rehearsed and ate!
While it doesnt seem like there was THAT much to do – it was A LOT. I wouldnt really say I felt relaxed, but I wasnt actually stressed until Friday because people kept calling me asking me things.
You are smart to have everything done as early as possible and I think that if you have a lot of people helping and who know what they are doing then you will probably be okay!
