I like the style of it. :) I love halos in general.

Is it 1 center stone or 4? That may be what's throwing you off.

It's gorgeous!  It would never work on my fingers because my fingers are too short, but the ring itself is to die for!

I'm only writing this because you said be honest...I think it's pretty....but it is too wide for my taste personally (I have small fingers).

From what I have seen overall, it seems (just based on my very casual observations)  like there are a few major style categories popular right now: the pave halo styles like this, then the ultra thin styles with stacked bands, the vintage styles, and then the solitaire sets with side stones and matching bands. Maybe did you have a different style in mind for yourself and that's why you aren't sure?

I got a thin band with stacked diamond wedding band and then realized I wanted more vintage, so we put a pave wrap on my solitaire. Now it feels like "me" more with the mix of vintage and modern.

@MrsDulce:  I dont like how the outside has the silver band around it, i am not sure how to explain, it is almost like the diamonds sit in the band and i like when the diamonds are just out with no silver band beside them. it reminds me of the older style rings.   i dont mind the width but i wish you could see my finger inbetween the bands like how some of them kind of come to a v on the sides? I do kind of think it is just like a block of diamonds.

@AmeliaBedelia:  i am not sure what the center stone is, thats actually another thing that bothers me is it is four seperate stones, not one, the total for the whole ring is only 2 carats

@danymarie:  It is an older style, but that's not bad. Tiffanys makes tons on selling the old styles! It looks like this is a shared prong band? With channel setting...   It's not tapered....like this style maybe is what you were hoping more for? http://www.kay.com/product1|10101|10001|-1|990581504|15051|15051

    Or this: http://www.kay.com/product1|10101|10001|-1|80414410|15051|15051

Edit--It sounds like you wanted just the regular prong set, not the shared with the channel setting.

I am not a fan of the style (quad diamonds are not something I appreciate aesthetically)

But really, the only people who need to like it are you and your partner.

Lots of people would probably not like my simple solitaire- but I do!

@MrsDulce:  the opening is but it still has the diamonds sitting in a metal band around the edge which is what bothers me most i think about this ring. let me see if i can find a link to one i am talking about.

Honestly.... it's not my style. I think it's too wide for me and I don't like that the center stone looks like separate stones. I also tend to like solitaires better. So, it's just a few things that I don't like all in one ring. However, what's important is that YOU like it. Are you happy wearing it? I needed a ring that I would want to wear forever.

@danymarie:  If you like that style I would see if the jeweler can modify it for you. You need to love it, and since the stones are there it's really just a matter of resetting them. :) I hate too much metal on a ring..which is prolly why mine is just flat diamonds wherever I could put them lol!!  So you should be able to take in pics and say how you want it and get it fixed. You have to love your ring if you plan on wearing it every day!

I think it's beautiful. The one thing I would say is the band is very thick (I say this only because I have slim fingers). But I'm sure it'll still look great on you; my comment is more of a personal preference due to my small size (seriously, I'm a UK size I, US 4.5 I think and am under 5ft tall so very small all over really, I struggle to get anything that doesn't look big on me).

OP, if the link you posted is the style you prefer, it's definitely not what you received.  The guard type rings in your link are very pretty, and would look great with a solitaire.

The e-ring is not my personal taste.  I have itty-bitty fingers, so my e-ring is sort of dainty.  This one has a lot of heft to it, and I guess I'm not really a fan of chunky bling.

This boils down to personal taste, of course, but since you asked for 100% honesty no I don't like it.

A pp mentioned it's very wide. It reminds me of a man's football ring. Just really too many bands and not exactly a feminine style.

The quad/invisible set diamonds are not my favorite either (the 4 that make up the center area).

I don't like the 4 separate stones in the place of one center stone, it's gaudy. That's just my honest opinion. But I think it's a question you should be asking yourself. If you don't like it, exchange it for something else (if your FI agrees).

The ring is beautiful. I do agree that the band is way to wide and I will second that it looks like a mans ring. I dont know I would have to see it on your finger to really tell how it looks. Over all though it is beautiful! Whatever you feel is true in your heart! :)

I think if it was a halo ring with two wedding bands on each side, it would be fine.  But as an engagement ring, I think it's going to look massive once you put another band with it.

Generally I just don't post on things when I really don't like them, but you asked for the honesty.  I agree with PPs - it looks like a man's ring.  I think it's too wide and too busy.  But I always prefer simpler rings, so the wide band with tons of diamonds just isn't my style.  If you love it, then it's beautiful to you, and that's what matters.

Honestly I am not a fan either, for the same reasons others have stated.  It's too wide, does look more masculine because of the width.  I also do not like the seperated four-stones trying to make up for a whole center stone.  I think it's just a bit too much.  I would be interested to see it on your finger...maybe having it on your hand will put it in a different context and make it look different.

I would want to modify it so that the quad stones were replaced with 1 solid stone in the middle, and take a band off the top and the bottom, so the band is thinner. I'm not sure that I like that the band is as wide as the halo. You really couldn't wear a wedding ring with it.

I am def a solitare girl. I prefer the main stone to be the centerpiece of the ring. The WOW factor.

I think the ring is pretty but not my style. I think if the band with narrower, it would show off the center stone better.

There is a lot going on and it definitely looks more like a cocktail ring or Super Bowl ring to me than an engagement ring. But then I'm a solitaire girl and a lot of rings nowadays look way too busy/big to me.

Maybe the question to ask yourself is whether you could get something you like better for the same budget. If your heart is set on 2 carats total, this type of ring may actually be the best way to get that in the budget because many smaller stones are less expensive than just a few larger stones making up the same carat weight. If the alternative is a more delicate/streamlined style but with a <1 carat stone, would you be happy?

Like other PPs have said, it's very wide and "chunky" looking.

I'm also not a big fan of the 4 small stones making up one large one.

The style has promise, but it seems all of it is overdone.

I like the suggestions of removing 1 band from either side as well as possibly replacing the 4 small center stones with one larger one (if budget allows).

Have you talked to your FI about this?

I agree with all the reasons stated.. too chunky, too many pave diamonds (are too many diamonds really that bad) and the four stone.. but again like many other said this is our opinion if you love it that's all that matters.

Sorry honey, but I don't like it either. I don't like the 4 stones (invisible set, I think it's called?) and I just think there's too much going on with so many bands and the halo and everything. On the plus side, though, the diamonds are very impressive. It definitely has the bling factor!
