    How good are you at taking your pill on time?

    If you take it like clockwork every day and never miss a pill I think you are fine with just using the pill. If you tend to be a bit forgetful with your pill I think two forms might be better for you.

    @MrsFairyBee:  I hear you!  I’m paranoid like this, too.  I was also thinking it would be great to cut out the condoms after the wedding but I’m terrified of getting pregnant.  We are so not ready for that yet.

    You could chart for a bit to figure out when you ovulate and then use a condom for the days before nod after and not the rest of the time… But I think it’s overkill

    Well like they say the only 100% way to prevent is to abstain, which lets face it…. that is just not happening.

    I got pregnant while on the pill (I wasn’t sick at the time, I did not miss a dosage, I wasn’t on any sort of medication….), but understand that is extremely rare. Before that I had been taking it for years with no scares at all. You should be fine while just on the pill as long as you take it correctly. There are also other forms of BC that your OBGYN could recommend.

    @mrsSonthebeach:  That doesn’t work with the pill though.

    DH and I use both as well.  We have forgone the condoms a few times with the pull-out method instead, but I wouldn’t do that if I had been sick or taken a pill late.

    I don’t trust just the pill because mum got pregnant with me on the pill and MIL got pregnant with my DH on the pill. That said thou my mum got pregnant just after she moved to Australia so she reckons she stuffed up taking it with the time zone difference etc – I don’t know MIL’s reasoning thou. I have GFs that take the pill religiously thou and none of them have ever had a mishap (one was 9 yrs with her SO before they split and the other 2 I can think of off the top of my head have been with their partners 5+ years) so obviously if taken carefully it can work.

    i voted use condoms during fertile days because if we were using the pill too that’s what I’d do…

    I always use two forms. I have no intention of popping out a little one for a very very long time!

    I was going to vote “use condoms during your fertile time” but since you are on the pill you shouldn’t be ovulating, therefore shouldn’t have a fertile time.

    @Cady: I agree… OP you would have a chance to get pregnant no matter how many forms of birth control you tack on. Since it seems you do pretty well with taking the pill I don’t see any reason to still use condoms. The chances of getting pregnant while on the pill (while possible) are very very small.  I understand the paranoia… a baby is a big deal, but I think you should be fine with just the birth control. Just remember to follow the rules of the birth control very carefully, (antibiotics can stop them from working, and you should be careful of any significant weight changes, if you miss a dose do what it says on the warning label.) and you should be just fine. 🙂

    @mrsSonthebeach:

    @MrsArtsy:

    oh wow I never thought of that hehe in my defence I’ve never used the pill only as a form of birth control so I’ve never looked into it.

    I wouldn’t bother with the pill if he was using condoms, and I wouldn’t bother with condoms if I was on the pill. I’ve neeeever doubled up and I’ve never gotten pregnant!
