I’m newly engaged and meeting my dad down in La Romana (Dominical Republic) for a week. I DON’T want to take off my e-ring. It’s a snug fit so I’m not worried about it coming loose or off when I swim and I’m an ocean swimmer (probably won’t be in the pool very much.)
Is one week in the DR going to really do damage to an 18K gold peach sapphire ring? In the last 3 years I haven’t even been in a pool so this is not routine for me and I don’t plan on exposing the ring to ocean water or chlorine in the next couple of years either.
You think it’s an issue?

I don’t think it’s an issue. If you wear them in chlorine, I would make sure you rinse them off really well. You don’t want any residue from the chlorine pitting the gold. Ocean water shouldn’t be an issue at all.

@mousepeach: First of all, I absolutely loved La Romana when I visited! I can see the blue waters still and it’s been a few years. I would probably still take it off because your ring may come off while swimming. I see you’re not concerned with it, so I would say keep it on. It won’t do a ton of damage.
@Fluffmallow: Dominican Republic.

It should be fine with saltwater, but I wouldn’t go swimming with an expensive ring ever because if it gets lost, you probably won’t find it. Even if your ring fits snugly now, finger sizes do fluctuate a bit, and considering that water takes away body heat (even warm tropical water), I’d be worried about my finger shrinking a bit.
