Never been pregnant yet myself, and I’ve never heard of stronger urine odor being a symptom, but I have heard that some women get a heightened sense of smell, which could make you THINK your urine smells stronger 🙂 If you have a fever, back ache, or any other symptoms you should go get a test to make sure you aren’t getting a urinary tract infection or something else going on (diabetes can make your urine smell strong too). Fingers crossed for you!

It could also be the sign of a UTI. I recently had one and that is what made me notice. I didn’t have any pain, burning, or any of the usual symptoms so I couldn’t believe it when that was the diagnosis!

That was one of my first signs!!  I’m currently 22 weeks pregnant–it just smelled really “off” when I was around 3-4 weeks along and then I started feeling really tired on my bike rides.  So it could be a sign!

hollyberry4.   G ._ :  YES! since early pregnancy with DD I started noticing that my urine smelled stronger. Not exactly a bad smell but stronger just the same. Thing is she is 20 months and it never went away. I’m currently 8 weeks with #2 and I smell EVERYTHING, I have a superhero nose.

It was also one my very first symptoms both times but since I also occasionally smell DH’s fmu if I go in right after him, I chalk it up to enhanced smell rather than stronger smelling pee. I did initially think it may be the scent of all those extra hormones being flushed out 😉

Good luck , hope its not a UTI.

they make uti testing strips that you can take to see if it may be a uti. i’ve used them in the past and i think they’re pretty accurate. when i’ve had uti’s my symptoms are sometimes very mild- no pain or discomfort, but my urine has stronger, weird odor and that’s what tips me off.

hollyberry4:  Hmmmm, I think its varies on the concentration so middle of the night and fmu is most noticeable.

hollyberry4:  For me it was just about every time up until probably around 8-9 weeks (even if I drank a lot of water).  It went away after awhile, though.

It could just be a sign of dehydration, but I have never been pregnant nor heard of that being a “thing.”

hollyberry4:  it could be a sign of a UTI. I am prone to UTI’s because of a surgery I had when I was younger.
