Hi all…I really hope this question doesn’t come off as bratty or obnoxious, but here goes:
We are going to Paris for our honeymoon as I’ve mentioned before. We live in Greece so the plane tickets are super cheap. We plan on getting food from street vendors (crepes, etc) as well as dining in some nice restaurants. We also want to go to some jazz clubs.
Since we have both been there several times before and done all the sightseeing, we really want this trip to mostly be about enjoying our room 🙂 resting, eating well, and listening to some great music.
Now- my grandmother is going to give us a big sum that would pay for 7 nights at Le Meurice, a 5* in Paris which would include a daily breakfast in their royal dining room, a one-hour couples massage in their spa, champagne and desserts in the room and a possible upgrade. This just seems like paradise…BUT-
Is this just a HUGE waste of the money? Is it worth it?
Our other option is to stay in a nice apartment in a nice neighborhood which would also be lovely, but just without all the perks. With the money we get from my grandma, we could pay for this apartment PLUS restaurants, etc.
We will be getting lots of other money from family at the wedding, so it isn’t like the whole sum will go towards our honeymoon, but I just feel a little irresponsible spending so much for 7 nights at a hotel.
On the other hand, it is our honeymoon…and why not live it up before we have kids and responsibilities?
Also, we do not need to save $ for a home, so that is not an issue…
Sorry for the rambling post, but as you can see I am going back and forth in my mind…
