I love the idea of the cake.  I think that’s all you need to have a rainbow and keep it subtle.  If you’re not really rainbow people, you don’t need to go all rainbowy all over everything!

Are you having any bridesmaids/men?  They could paint the soles of their shoes rainbow colors.  That would look pretty freaking cool, and wouldn’t be in your face.

soontobemrsm11:  Gorgeous!

Love peachacid idea with the shoes, very cute! Agree if you’re not wanting to go too over the top just do a few very subtle nods to rainbow, people will still get it!

I think you can totally pull of the rainbow theme in certain areas as long as you have a strong anchor color(s) to pull it all together- or else it will look quite carnival-ish! I think the steel grey and the yellow will be really classy anchors and the rainbow touches you mentioned will add a little bit of fun and whimsy. 🙂

i think differebt colored dresses, shoes, or sashes would be such a great idea. Maybe each table can be a different color theme. Place cards can have the border the color of a person’s table. Maybe black can be your main color and you accent witt rainbow.

Hmmm… We are same sex also, but I am extremely anti rainbow when it comes to our wedding! I think it can be cute when done the right way, I just want to focus to be on our commitment to one another. Not the fact we are lesbian. I think the cake idea sounds adorable though! Congrats, by the way!

Please don’t do the colored sashes. This is an idea that is never seen in the real world but somehow brides think that bridesmaids are exempt from fashion guidelines. Where else would you ever see a woman wearing a lovely dress with a colored sash?

I think the rainbow themed can be done tastefully, just choose carefully where you want to use the colors.

You could do “naked” cakes…I’m not sure how they’d taste, but they looook amazing!

I think the rainbow inside cake looks good regardless of what the outside looks like.

I like the idea of the flowers being all the colors of the rainbow. It just looks super colorful instead of “THIS IS A RAINBOW!!!” ya know? If you’re doing favors at the place settings you could do each one in a bag or tied with a ribbon of the different colors of the rainbow. (I have red, person next to me orange, next to them yellow…. around the table.)

Using muted, pastel or darker “rainbow” colors would also help keep the rainbow on the subtler side.

I found this picture, too…I don’t like fondant, because I think it’s inedible, but this looks pretty cool:

Or, you could do this:

It’s edible!! It’s a CAKE!

soontobemrsm11:  I changed my avatar a few weeks ago for a special event from my college (to flowers) and then changed it to the naked penguin just for a bit.  I know it’s usually the marriage equality symbol…but what says marriage equality better than a bald penguin?  I mean…he just shows that EVERYONE should be treated equally…=)  I’m sure I’ll change it back eventually…I can’t find my posts sometimes because I always look for the red!

There is also this, that you could play at your wedding: http:/www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsGYh8AacgY
