I recently found out I am pregnant and ill be about 29 weeks pregnant come the day of my wedding. My dress is a Mori Lee 4816. Is there anything I can do to make my dress wearble for a pregnant bride on my wedding day? have any of you ladies ever had a dress altered to fit a baby belly?

Hmmmmm, I think you could make it fit by having gussets put in, but I’m trying to envision that and I’m not sure how flattering this dress would be on a pregnant woman. You might want to go with something that will make it obvious that you’re pregnant, and not just fat. I’m afraid with this dress, you’ll have the baby bump, and then halfway down the bump is where the poofy ruffles start, making you look even bigger. But the bump won’t be defined at all. You’ll just get wider and wider as the dress goes down. I don’t want to sound depressing! That’s just what I’m seeing in my head.

First of all – CONGRATULATIONS!!! That’s so exciting to hear that you’re expecting. Unfortunatley, I’m not sure this dress will work with a baby bump. This is the first time I am ever recommending that you get a new dress. Usually I tell people to stick with what they picked, but you will be showing by 29 weeks and I just don’t see how that dress could fit a baby bump. Maybe you could sell it and get a new one?

@MrsDaley4414: I have kind of a strange suggestion. I’m not sure how tall you are or if this would even work, but I’m thinking that you might be able to raise the waistline to being above your baby belly. Obviously to be able to do this you would need more than a few inches to play with and you would have to be fine with the dress being more empire as opposed to natural/drop waist, but that will be the case with almost any maternity dress. I would definitely talk to an experienced seamstress about your options.

@MrsDaley4414: it honestly depends on how fast you show. Me personally i didnt start showing until the last 3 months even with my second child. Spanx should be able to pull your tummy in

I’d be surprised if you’re not showing at 29 weeks, that’s into your 7th month.
I agree with @futuregattman: about possibly raising the waistline if possible. Something along these lines…
It will really depend though on how your body changes. I with know my FSIL you couldn’t even tell she was pregnant beside her belly, but other friends of mine have gained up to 60 lbs and bloated up all over. It seems to vary so much from person to person. I would have a back up plan just in case no matter what you decide to do so if you need to go a different way at the last minute at least you’ll have some options in mind.
