Some people are lactose intolerant. FI is, but he just has to eat a lactose pill beforehand which really helps. Maybe grab a couple of bottles and put them in your bathroom baskets for your guests! We’re having a cheese buffet and I’m putting a big bowl of them for FI as a joke 😉

You can leave a special note at the bottom for people to mention dietary needs.

There’s no such thing as a cheese allergy but like @bakerella says they can be lactose intolerant. My dad says he’s allergic to cheese at restaurants only because he hates it and won’t eat it if he smells it.

I agree with sceeder–just add a line for people to add any special dietary needs

Agree with the special dietary needs – people who are lactose intolerant will know to say something, as will any celiacs/vegans/etc.

Like others have said, generally people with special dietary needs are very careful to pay attention to what’s in their food, and they’ll be proactive about making sure they avoid it or say something.

I work with kids and on their emergency forms we have them list any allergies, including food. We have had a couple kids with an actual cheese allergy! Here is an article on it.

That being said, those with special dietary restrictions generally know to speak up in advanced so accommodations can be made or eat before an event.

My dad is allergic to cheese, so there are such things as cheese allergies.  Usually people with allergies or special diet will know to contact you.

I’m a nanny for a little girl who is allergic to dairy which is different than being lactose intolerant (and I’ve heard a lot of lactose intolerant people can actually eat cheese because the lactose breaks down when it’s made, but I’m not 100% on that). For her, even if the cheese can be taken off, she wouldn’t be able to eat any food that touched it or else she will break out in hives. But as a previous poster said, generally if they have the allergy they will ask about the menu to make sure it is avoided or bring their own food just incase. There are many things people can be allergic to, so I’m not sure it is necessary to list it, but I’m sure it would be appreciated by those who are allergic or intolerant.

@JoesWifey: My FI is anaphylactic to Dairy, Eggs, Tree Nuts and Peanuts. Thank you for bring up the difference between that and lactose intolerant.

@JoesWifey: I didn’t know there was an actual cheese allergy! I learned something new today! I’m so thankful to not be allergic to anything major like that, I think it must be so hard to live with day to day. We have a guest who’s allergic to eggs, but thankfully I think she can eat just about everything on our menu 🙂
