I don’t know about your area, but that is a steal (if the cake looks good and tastes good). Cakes in my area for that size are $4/slice, so a 75 person cake would be $300.

$1.80 per slice is a GREAT deal! depending where you are, it can go up to $5-8.

Sounds like a good deal to me! As long as it looks how you want it to. I’ll be using a professional and will be paying around $6 per slice.

@PinkBubbleGum:Is her cake good? If she hasn’t done a wedding cake before how do you know she will be able to pull this off?

That is really cheap.  I would do a cake testing first though with her just to see if you like her cake.

It sounds like a steal but since she has never done a wedding cake I would suggest kinda of a cake trial. Maybe just one of the layers completely done to make sure she can accomplish what you want. I have a family friend that will be doing mine, she’s done wedding cakes professional for years and will only charge $100.

@kate9854: I agree, great price, but I would have her do a trial run and make one of the layers or bake a sample so you know what to expect in terms of her decorating skill and cake taste. If she does well on that, then go for it!

I agree that it’s a great price, but do make sure you’ve tasted the cake or done a trial run.  Making a wedding cake is a lot harder than making a regular cake!  Our is costing about $350 for a professional baker.  Our venue also won’t allow a cake to be brought in if it’s not by a licensed baker, so make sure you don’t have that kind of restrictions.
