I think it would be different and adorable. I would definitely include a note with the table name explaining how its name came to be! You'll get lots of "Aww"s, I bet.
I actually think this is a great idea! I agree with Doctorgirl - having an explaination of the names would really add to the 'cuteness' factor
Maybe the kids could create the table cards with crayons!
very cute. This would be a fun pre wedding activity for you to do with the kids too. Offer to "babysit" for the day and then you and the kids can spend the afternoon naming the tables and creating designs for the cards.
Great idea :)
Oh, I wish I could...but I live in Massachusetts and they live in Minnesota!
In all honesty, I am not crazy about this idea. If the kids were your kids, I might be a little more in favor of it.
Love it. And I love the idea of the kids drawing the table cards too! Very cute and kid friendly. Plus a great way to invlove them in such an adult event!
I think it is a great way to get the kids involved. I think I was... 8 when my aunt got married. and I remember her wedding day clearly in my mind. My sister was 3 1/2 and she says she vaguely remembers. But I think also- looking back on the photos with the kids and family, the kids will have a story they can add to your day. =o)
That is so sweet of you to think of a nifty way for them to be in the action! Kudos.
not to be a debbie downer but i kind of agree with jenny bee. kids are a little unpredictable...what if the names aren't super cute? i think you're expecting a lot out of such young children...the mom will probably end up doing all the work!
5 and 7 year olds can be worked with. They have active imaginations. I am sure they can come up with something. Hasn't anyone seen "Kids say the darndest things"? I think brainstorming and some conversation will help work things out. I dunno- I am a pediatric nurse- and all the kids I work with and my friends kids (4 year old, 5 yr old, 8 yr old... and toddlers) are the funniest kids- who have a lot to share if given an outlet.
Its a cute idea, I think you have to be careful and explain to the parents exactly what you want, cause some of the names the kids might come up with might not be what your looking. But still a cute idea
I think it is cute and meaningful! I think it would be a great tradition that you also might be able to start with your family! It's a very creative idea!

Ok, for table names...
Our ring bearers are ages 5 and 7. Our flower girl is 3. They are my fiance's nephews and niece, all in the same family.
We will probably have 12 or so tables, and we cannot think of how to name them (we don't want to simply use numbers). I was thinking, "why don't we have the kids name them?"
The names would end up so random...probably something along the lines of "Legoland, Pretty Sparkly Princess, Indiana Jones, etc.
Am I nuts? Also, does this put too much pressure on the mother of the kids (as far as explaining, maybe)? She is a bridesmaid.
