So ladies (gents if there are any, lol) I have a small issue with photography. We initially booked with a venue that required use of their contracted photographer. It was no big deal to us because her photography is phenomenal. Fast forward and our venue has now changed. After speaking to her she has no issue shooting our wedding elsewhere but there is a significant price increase. I am more concerned about the value of the package than anything. The fact that she pretty much only shoots weddings at that venue kind of alarms me BUT she’s a professional and should be able to shoot anywhere (right?)
Here is the package and package price we were given. I’m not very well versed in photography or packages and I don’t know if this is a great deal or if we should start to look elsewhere. In your experience does this sound about right? Of course the quality of the images/photographer plays a part but generally speaking is this package price about the norm?

YIKES! 5 hours doesn’t seem like very much coverage for how much that’s gonna cost. I’m from the midwest though, so I’m sure prices differ greatly..

Yeah, that isn’t a good deal around here (DC area, which is gererally pricier that GA). If you really love her work, I would see how much the photographer is willing to negotiate. But if you are open to exploring other options, I’d do that ASAP.

What is the point of a DVD you can’t print from?? I think, depending on your area it is decent but I have yet to understand why anyone wants a disk they cant use to print. And maybe it is also just me, but 80 images in a book from a whole wedding doesn’t seem like much. Of course I am going with a photographer where I can make my own book, which was very important to me. And is it saying, you ONLY get 125 images from your wedding to keep? Cause that seems unreal. Most ladies on here have several hundred pictures from their wedding, not 125.

Good then it’s not just me… whew. I’d rather loose the deposit and get something we both love, want and can use than be stuck in a contract that makes no sense to me.
Thanks so much ladies!
ETA: AND this price is more than half of the original price… she said that the venue gets a better rate since she’s their contracted photographer. I’m glad I asked before I signed another contract. At this rate we’re only out of $250 or so dollars and whatever a new photog will cost.

That seems pretty high. My package is 8 hours of photography, 2 photographers, 10×10 flush mount album with 40 pages, dvd of all photos (edited & retouched) with full photo release, web hosting of slide show for 3 months and an engagement photo shoot. $3,000.00

A lot depends on the manufacturer and quality of the album. Prices vary a lot. I think if she included a dvd of the images with printing rights, it’s a fair price assuming her work is very nice.
