Sorry...one last question...would you think this is rude or inappropriate for a holiday card? (this is not our family pic...example from website).
Edit: the pic I would send would be of my 7 year old son and dog only. But the card is signed from all of us.

@LilacViolet: Thanks. :)
I think it's amusing but just wanted to get opinions on here. We have a 7 year old and I thought it would be kind of funny.
Thanks ladies! You all are the best! :) I'm going with this one...with just my son for the pic.
@OptimusPrime: i think it's so cute. i would totally laugh.
@vorpalette: Well if it's just her son in the photo, then I think it'd be funny and cute. However, if the adult couple is in the photo - then this card could be perceived in an entirely different way. Which then, would make it a card that I wouldn't want to send to my great aunts and uncles, etc.
I was not trying to be rude at all, she asked - so I answered honestly.
We actually got a holiday card like that a few years ago. It was funny. Anyone who would be offended needs to lighten up a bit.
@ForeverBlessed: Oh, it's just my son! I wouldn't put my husband and I in it only. That would be gross (I mean to family members especially). I wanted my son and dog but don't have any good pics of the two of them from today but if I get one, I want them both b/c they've both been pretty mischevious this year! :)
@OptimusPrime: I love the idea of putting your son and dog in the photo! Cute idea :)
OP: The card that we got had the mom and dad, back to back in chairs, "tied up" with Christmas lights and their mouths taped shut. Then the kids were standing next to them with one holding the tape, the other holding the lights and both looking mildly possessed. Totally beats the boring posed shots that everyone sends.
You have to consider your audience. Your 20 and maybe 30-somethings would probably find it amusing, but your next generations and up are more likely to find it off-color or inappropriate. I wouldn't send it to a grandparent or anyone around my mom's age. 40s would borderline it. It'd depends on the person. Like my mom would find this somewhat inappropriate, not amusing.
You can split and do some like that and some more traditional ones?
Oh. didn't realize it'd just be the son and dog. Probably fine then...
Am I the only one who doesn't understand this card at all? It looks like the parents are asking to have a threesome (alluding to naughty and asking for a friend)... ? I think I'd just stick with "Happy Holidays from the Jones Family"
meh. i don't think its rude, but i think its just kind of cheesy/tacky. sorry! just giving my honest opinion :)
ETA: also totally missing a question mark
I think it's more appropriate if the parent/s are in the pic with the son. It could come off as hurtful if just the son was to be joked about being "naughty."
As a family together though I think it's adorable!
@icet She said it would only be her son in the photo (and maybe the dog) but not the parents.
I would be so hurt as a teenager if I found out my mom had sent yhis card out when I was a kid. It would be embarassing for everyone to know my parents thought I was bad and sent thatessage to all their friends and family. If I got a card, I would think it was cute.
@September29: I can understand that. I just didn't see many options and wanted something a little different.
@ForeverBlessed: Yeah...didn't see that at first. Changed my "since" to an "if."
@Pollywog: i can understand that. All our friends and family know our son well though and know he is quite the character. If I thought it would make him look really bad, I wouldn't consider it. I just wanted to ask on here to get a general consensus in case most did think it was offensive.
Seriously, can someone explain what the card means? FI didn't understand it either when I showed it to him. To both of us it seems to have a very adult theme but I'm assuming this isn't the case?
@MadameTussaud: LOL but there's babies in the example! It isn't adult themed.
You know, Santa's making a list and checking it twice, gonna find out who's naughty or nice<< so it's asking Santa to be more specific...like jumping on the bed....pillow fights...sneaking chocolate etc.
@icetea: Then why are the parents asking for a friend? Is it asking the recipient of the card to be friends with the family?
@MadameTussaud: lol no...the joke is that it's really asking for the family, but they're not admitting they're the ones who might have been being naughty (the kind santa talks about, not adult naughty ;)
I find it hysterical and would laugh so hard if a friend sent it. Io agree it might be eyebrow raising if it were just a couple but with kids I think it's funny. Well, unless your kid is a holy terror.
@OptimusPrime: I think it is funny and got right away what it was about, though I was momentarily thrown by parents being there. But knowing it's just kids, for sure, the message is clear. If your son is fine with it, send it.
Ha ha thats funny !!! You should add a poll I say go for it
Seconding the comment that I would be pissed if I were a kid in the photo and that I would find it mild and cute if I received it. Honestly, I didn't get the "we're asking for a friend" line right away. I read it as asking Santa to give you a friend and I thought the family on the card was a little bit lame.
I love it! Especially if it is your son and his dog. Dogs are always naughty. :P
