Haha, I voted that it's not against the rules, but I don't actually know.  I say let that be a warning that the bees don't like it when you try to over charge :P

Who sent you the PM? A mod or OP? If it's the OP who sent you the message just send it to one of the mods and they will deal with it.

I think its a fair call. She is probably just upset because she wants to get back some of the money she wasted?

ETA - Fair call being you posting the cheaper alternative.

This is one section of the Terms of Service:

"2.is intended to or tends to harass, annoy, threaten or intimidate any other users of the Site or Services;"

I am sure that your intent was not to annoy the seller, but to inform any potential buyers, so I doubt it violates the TOS.

The seller is obviously annoyed with you and I'm guessing the PM was from her. Just forward it to one of the mods.

Lol, it's a tricky one! if it was only $10 difference, I'd say you were being mean... but if she's selling the exact same ones being offered at shopwildthings for more than twice the price, then she's absolutely ripping people off. Are you sure the ones she's selling aren't better quality?

It seems this "Bee" is on here exclusively as a vendor and has NO right to try and scare you. Look at all her posts...

Well here goes... I'm the one who got this whole mess started! I am an event designer who saw the bee's post and inquired about the pricing just like a ton of other brides.  I know that these are normally a certain price on shopwildthings; so when she told me the price I about fell out of my chair! I did send a pm to a few of the brides who left messages desperatley seeking to know where she found these as they were beautiful and they wanted them too!!...I did not intend to start any kind of trouble; just offer the girls a cheaper alternative where I know they can get the same thing but for under $80 as opposed to $139 each plus shipping!

I really did not intend for this to get so out of hand; I merely was trying to help the rest of the bee's out!

Hopefully this doesn't result in any hate messages...Undecided

I accidentally voted "against the rules" sorry! So that changes your poll a little! I think I'm the only one. But I don't think it is, at all! I think you are right, this was her chance to make a profit and she got caught. We are all here to help each other, not profit from one another. I hope she calms down or a mod is able to help!

I would like to chime in that i think it is perfectly okay for someone to try to make a profit on something in classifieds but i also think it is awesome when someone else can point you in a money-saving direction.

My point: her original post was not wrong, your addition was awesome, and mean pm's are unnecessary

Thank you everyone for helping me feel better...I couldn't help but repond to her messages but I tried to keep it G-rated/anti-snarky...it was a struggle to say the least!!! And I mentioned her having to watch out for her bad karma, and she said, "I hope thats not a threat!" Like, seriously??? Lying ALWAYS gets you bad karma, right??? Ugh! I love drama, but this is a bit much!!! I wrote Bakerella, and I put in the subject, "SOS! Killer Bee Alert!" LOL!!!

This is not a new thing with this vendor! Waaaaay back when I was looking for linens, maybe a year ago, I found swirl overlays for significantly cheaper than this same vendor was selling them for, and I linked to the overlays. I do not remember exactly what happened as it was very long ago, but I think she flagged me or something and my reply was removed. When I inquired about it, I was told it was a mistake, though I still think it's curious.

But the key to not being ripped off is information. There have been debates here that charging the same price as what you bought them for or discounting a used dress only a few hundred dollars off is fair if the market drives the price. If someone is willing to pay that much, they can. But I do believe that if people know the cheaper alternatives, and they're not always able to find them immediately when they're looking, they wouldn't pay for some of the mark-ups in the classifieds that vendors or reselling brides try to grab!

@Amaryllis: I think selling something for the same price you bought it for or only discounting it a little is different than vastly overcharging for an item.  Especially if you got a really good deal- then you are still passing on savings.

@accorn: To me it depends on the item. I think it's ridiculous to ask $1900 for a worn, altered dress that costs $2000 for example. I'd just buy the dress new in that situation. But if you got a really good deal, as you say, then yes, like if you spent $1 on candleholders that normally cost $5 and offer them at $1? Yeah, you're still passing on tons of savings.

I think what you did is great!

It appears that the poster was trying to make a profit by reselling these for more than she paid and she got caught.  That's why she's pissed.  Her plan got foiled.

Good for you, don't be sorry one bit!

I've seen her comment on posts attacking people who offer lower prices on things being sold. She def. has a history for trying to mark up prices.

Wow I cannot believe how much she is charging for these things!!! I am renting 8 of these very same chandeliers with hooks and the total cost is $320.00. Obviously in some cases it is much cheaper to rent than buy.

@Amaryllis: yup, i agree with this. i sold a ton of my wedding stuff after my wedding. most of it i marked down from what i paid. But i do remember my BM bouquets i only paid $10 to begin with! so i sold them for $10 and the brides who bought them from me still got a good deal. that was the only thing i did that with though.
