It’s a beautiful song and it sounds like you and your FI have a connection to it. While the lyrics in the third verse aren’t necessarily fitting with the story of a bride and groom, they aren’t wildly inappropriate and don’t stand out to me. The chorus, “You swept me away,” is what stuck with me on the first listen. I say go for it!

If you are still looking for other slow, romantic songs, some that immediately come to mind are: “Marry Song” – Band of Horses, “Such Great Heights” – Iron and Wine, “Northern Wind” – City & Colour, “Blue Eyes” – Carey Brothers (these lyrics don’t fit for us, as we both have brown eyes ;)), and “Sea of Love” – Cat Power.

I haven’t read through the lyrics of these songs lately, but just some ideas.

And thanks for sharing this song, I will add this to my own indie rock/folk wedding playlist 🙂

TO @ellee:  think it is a perfect song… and more so cause it means something to the two of you.

Go for it.

@MissAusten:  I walked down the aisle to Iron & Wine “Such Great Heights” Such a great cover 🙂

We too had an indie/alt play list 😀

And so to not hijack the thread. OP use what you want. If you both like it, go for it.

@ellee:  If you’re IFFY on the third verse can you let your DJ know and he can mod the song to take skip it? Would also help shorten the song.

Its great that you found one that personalized to you and your FI I would just askt he DJ to do the above and also to shorten the intro. I was a little bored waiting for the lyrics and 4 minutes doing a very slow dance alone could be forever for you and your guests. Just my honest opinion 🙂

if you think its perfect, except that one verse, you could get an instramental and have someone sing it, replaceing the 3rd verse with verse 1 or your own lyrics.

Or someone can record it.

Depends on if you know anyone with a really good voice 🙂

Good luck!

@ellee:  Glad to help 🙂 I added your song to my list too!

@GoldStar:  I’ll have to post it to the board soon!

@Milo:  I considered that too! Right now I am thinking having the parents and grandparents part of the processional come in to “Such Great Heights” and myself to Sigur Ros’ “Hopipolla.” It’s hard to pick just one song for each part though!

Maybe just do the dance to the first two verses and choruses?  Three might be a bit long anyway.  I think you should go for the song, though, as it has a lovely meaning and obviously touched you both.
