I’ll be going bridesmaid dress hunting (hopefully the final round) with my sister (MOH) next week. Is it okay to bring my wedding gown with me to a shop where I didn’t originally purchase my dress? Will shop owners frown on the idea? I’ll likely be purchasing a veil or head piece and maybe shoes. I’ll need my dress for those, right?

@FewChaMrsBrown: Personally, I wouldn’t do this. I did not purchase my shoes, veil, etc while wearing my dress. I think you could purchase those items without wearing your dress at the bridal shop.

@IUrebekah3RT: I agree. I’ve just carried a picture of my dress on my phone when shopping for wedding accessories.

FTR, I wouldn’t wear it there. 🙂
I thought maybe I could bring it in the garmet bag, especially to match up shoes or to see how well they “go” as Stacy and Clinton would say.
Thanks for the feedback. I wouldn’t want to make a shop owner feel uncomfortable.

@FewChaMrsBrown: I’ve managed to gather my accessories without having my dress on hand. However, I don’t know why the sales ladies would be snarky about you bringing your dress in..if they were snarky to me I’d be totally put off and would not do business with them. It’s not rude for you to take in your dress even though you bought it elsewhere…as far as I know there is not etiquitte for this scenario anyway. At the end of the day, women who work in bridal salons love wedding gowns, and would probably appreciate accessorising your gown with you.

I think it’s probably fine, but yah I wouldn’t take it out of the bag. A picture would suffice for ‘matching’ bridesmaids dresses to your dress, but you might want better details for picking jewelry and accessories.
