I saw this dress on Anthropologie today and I think its just adorable. The groomsmen and groom are all planing to wear black suits. We are getting married in an outside garden in the summer and plan for “garden party attire” for guests so not very formal but not casual. I’m afraid that cotton dresses will look too informal next to black suits. Thoughts? Also, do you think this dress could work on full figured women?

Cute dress! I can’t decide. How formal is your dress? How formal will the rest of the wedding be? Also, you might get more feedback if you add a poll.

I think it’s cute. You could dress it up with heels and jewelry…

I don’t know how formal your wedding is going to be, but based on the comment of “The GMs will be in Black Suits” and that its “cotton” … it may seem more like a sun dress than a BM dress for a wedding.
My opinion. However, there are some places that sell BM dresses just like this!!!! Alfred Angelo is one of them. I would check that out and go for the similar look!

its beautiful! plus I think for an outdoor wedding then a sundress is the perfect outfit – a floorlength verawang would seem out of place to me ;P

I really think it will work and look great. I don’t know how great it will look on a full figured woman though. Horizontal lines widen you and it might make her look bigger. Try it on and see though. I could look just fine.

I love it! It may not go with the black suits though. Maybe if we could see them next to each other?

If possible, I would try to see it in person. There were a few dresses I really wanted until I saw them in person and decided they weren’t formal enough. I think it would be okay, though.

@kfricke89: This. Horizontal stripes not usually good for wider women, but the softer colours and the length might make it okay. Can you have the girls try them on and see if they feel comfortable in it?
I think it’s cute, and with silver shoes/accessories or something else that could “formal” it up a bit, it will suit a garden party theme to a tee.

I think it will look great! A note of caution re suitabilty for full figured girls though. It only comes in sizes up to 14 and despite what the media would like us to think, size 14 is closer to the average American size not fill-figured.

I think it’s great… maybe have the guys wear the same color ties as the dress that could tie it in more, and socks maybe.

It’s a very cute dress, and I think it’ll be great for a summer, outdoor wedding. I would definitely take your girls to try them on in person though. I stalk Anthro’s sales, and their sizing is all over the map. Sometimes I wear a 0, and sometimes I wear a 10 in different dresses.

Compared to the black suits, this dress does seem a bit casual..

EEP! Sorry, I’m in love with all things Anthro (and worked there as an intern over the summer) and I hadn’t seen this dress yet! Love it!
I might have to get it for myself for some wedding-related thing that I will surely have to do…. 🙂
But, seriously, I think that it could be really cute, depending on the formality of your dress. I love it, but maybe try looking at it next to pictures of your dress and see what you think.
Also, I would have your ladies try it on if possible. Anthro sizing is ALL over the place depending on brand.
The one other tip- if you have any petite or short torso brides, those straps may need to be shortened. They are notorious for having too long straps or bra side showing when I try on dresses with straps there.

I think its cute! My girls wore navy blue cotton sundresses and the grooms wore black tuxes. It looked fine!
Two words of caution: cotton wrinkles baaaaaaad. The ladies look pretty wrinkled in the post-ceremony pics (you sit down for Catholic weddings).
Also: patterns go out of style quicker than solid colors, so that’s something to consider. But that dress is pretty simple so it may work. But horizontal stripes aren’t great for wider figures.
I say: Get it for yourself and wear it to the rehearsal/on your honeymoon!
