So my Fiance and I had our wedding planned out… Money saved for a honeymoon and everything was looking good! Well my Mom had a double back surgery done and it did not go as routinely as we had planned. She ended up being in the hospital for two weeks about 5 hours from where we live and I had to take off work to stay with her. (I guess I didn’ have to but I had never seen my Mom in as bad shape as she was in so in my mind I had to!) So not only did I lose the income from not working but I also had to spend about $1500 out of our wedding/honeymoon fund…
So… Now I have about $2700 to spend on a honeymoon. I would really like to do an all inclusive package and it include airfare. I’m asking for help from all the bees to try and help me find something that will work. I know I would have enough for a cruise but I had my heart set on going and staying somewhere and being able to fully explore and take in everything and not feel rushed to get back on the boat. My whole little world had revolved around Georgia and the states that surround it.
So.. Do you ladies think it’s possible?

I think you could do a Mexican all inclusive in that price range. You’re probably just a little bit shy for the Caribbean. How many days are you looking for?

You could consider a domestic all-inclusive like the Poconos. Or maybe a B&B within driving distance? (A different sort of all-inclusive, but quiet and romantic)

You should be able to find something in Mexico. You can often gets deals for $800-$1000 each all inclusive. Just look around, do some research. You’ll find something 🙂

Depending on how many days you are looking to stay, it sounds like Mexico will be in your budget for an AI. I highly recommend stretching your budget by staying in the lowest room class at a nice AI, you’ll still have all the benefits but an inland view which is IMO so worth it for more days.

Thanks! We are wanting to do the full seven days. Mexico is most likely what we will be doing. What are some pretty places there?

@FallBride100811: We’ve been to Cancun twice now. Both times we stayed at the Gran Caribe Real resort. It’s only 30 minutes from the airport, across the street from a small and Bubba Gumps, it’s a 5 minute bus ride from Coco Bongas and a few other popular places.
The resort itself isn’t very big. The beach is brand new and AMAZING. We went before and after the construction and what a difference. There is only 1 main pool that isn’t very big (kinda cold too) and 1 kids pool on the other side of the resort. The good and restaurants were really good. Never got sick of the food and the rooms are sooo nice. The showers are huge.
If you want an adults only resort, you can stay next door at The Royal. We walked over there to check it out and they have a WAY nicer pool but not as nice of beach.
Can’t think what else to tell you about it… if you have any questions, let me know.
Here’s the link to the resort.

Mexico (Yucatan Peninsula) is usually the most economical from someone from the eastern half of the US. Rather than trying to stretch your dollar by staying someplace mediocre for 7 nights, pare back & stay at a nicer resort for a few nights less.

We went to Puerto Vallarta for 7 nights at an adults only all-inclusive for $2600, including airfare. Since you’re in Georgia, I would suggest looking at Cancun/Mayan Riviera.

@Sunshine23: I’ve stayed there too! Great resort.

Flying out of Atlanta, you can go to Club Med in Cancun for $2566 (7 days). You could go to Club Med Punta Cana for $2652 (6 days). If you haven’t really traveled much, I would wholeheartedly recommend Club Med. They have lots of activities, all you can eat/drink, and a very welcoming staff.

We did Dreams Puerto Vallarta for 6 nights for 1800. I loved it!
ETA: For the week you’d prob want to go, Oct 9-16, from Atlanta, Travelocity is quoting $2,492. I highly recommend it 🙂

Look at resorts around Playa del Carmen (about 30 minutes from Cancun). It is a gorgeous town, very fun and walkable, and I think the town itself is classier than Cancun. People describe it as “more Euro” hehe
