I don’t see why it wouldn’t be. I think it’s pretty. What is it about the dress that you’re worried about?

Btw, welcome! 🙂

Welcome to the bee!

I think the dress is great, but what is the dress code for the wedding? I always say don’t wear a long dress if the bridesmaids aren’t, but you may not find a way to figure that out. My guess is, NYC and a “ritzy” place, a long dress is fitting!

I’d say that’s an indication for sure!

@glitterybee86:  Welcome! I think the dress is lovely. Was there a dress code indicated on the invitation? What time of day is the reception?

@glitterybee86:  That def does not look “promish” to me. No crazy poof, excess crystals, crazy neon color. Winter time, NYC, nice place… I can’t imagine a long dress looking out of place. Can you ask the bride or groom if an evening gown is okay to wear if you’re really worried about it?

@glitterybee86:  I think it’s perfectly fine if it goes with the dress code of the wedding. Looks pretty to me. 🙂

Hi @glitterybee86:  First off I know you are NEW Here, so a BIG Welcome to “the Hive”

Etiquette Snob here… lol

Beyond making a phone call (lol a now seemingly old fashioned thing to do… but once upon the norm when on had such necessary Wedding Questions)

The mood for the formality of the even is often set by the appearance of the Wedding Invite…

OR sometimes you can get a hint by looking for photos of the Venue on-line

I did a GOOGLE and found the website for the North Ritz Club, based on their photos and the 4 PM timeframe, I would say that “most likely” the Wedding would be Semi-Formal or Formal at this “ritzy” location

http://www.northritzclub.com/

So to answer your Question, I would think that the dress will be fine… and very pretty

The only thing is that some people still consider Black to be a “mourning colour” (but that is more nowadays if one is a Member of the Wedding Family itself)… normally bright colours are the norm for a Wedding… but in Big Cities, Black is certainly considered chic for Wedding Evening wear.

I think the dress is perfect.

Hope this helps,

PS… Enjoy the event, the venue looks promising for sure.
