I’m looking to buy this pre-owned gown: label size 8, street size 6. She had it altered to a 33-26-37 but the seamstress folded away the extra fabric instead of removing it, so it can be taken out to the original retail size.
I’m a 32-25-35, size 0 street size. Is this dress too large for me to attempt to alter?
I’ve tried to talk to other sellers with the same dress (street size 2) but they haven’t been responding back yet.
Thank you 🙂

@elleandish: to accommodate my chest, I had a bridal size 8 dress altered down to a 00ish everywhere else. it turned out great.
my only concern here is that since it was originally even larger maybe it would start to loose something? But maybe not — my guess is it would be fine.
If it gets to be too much excess fabric I would image the seamstress can just trim it off.
Might be simpler to hold out for one of the smaller dresses.

I bought a sample size 8 and I’ll be altering it to a size 2, so I bet it would be fine.

To accomodate my hips, I got a size 8 dress. It needs to be taken in to a 2 in the chest and waist. The bridal salon said that is not a problem at all. I think you are safe.

Since she’s already altered it down so much, another inch each way shouldn’t hurt the integrity or the aestetic of the dress!
