@missfrillycoat:  Ok, I have retracted my statement twice because I am unclear who’s mother it is. Is it your MIL or your sister in law’s mother in law?

@missfrillycoat:  Ok, if it is YOUR MIL, I wouldn’t make a big deal because, well, it’s your MIL. It’s different if it would be a friend or someone else. I guess, for me, if I invite my brother and his gf over for supper and my mom or parents tag along I don’t make a big deal about it. I agree that it would be more polite to ask, but that is just weird to ask if your MIL can attend.

@missfrillycoat:  I think it’s a little odd personally but nothing to really dwell on.

If you have a good relationship with her I’d just let it go.

Sometimes I get annoyed at my IL’s lack of boundaries, but its really not a big deal. You’re all family now! lol!

@missfrillycoat:  It’s a little weird, but I know my own MIL would feel left out if my SIL came over to my house for dinner anyway, so I probably would have been planning to invite her anyway in your situation. Families (especially in-laws) are weird…I would just try to let it go.

@missfrillycoat:  Trust me, I know, the lack of boundaries totally drives me nuts at times. Although I have no issues with boundaries with my own family. In that case I definitely know part of it is just beacuse my family has their dynamic, and his has theirs. I’ve spent my entire life with mine, and I have no issue with mine, to me, his is the “weird” one. Likewise, he has more issues with my family dynamic than I do, and less with his own than I do. That’s just how it is with melding familes I guess :

@missfrillycoat:  Ha, I have a really hard time of letting things go when it is is SIL or MIL related, so I feel your pain…easier said than done, right?!Wink
