My bf and I have been talking about marriage for a while, and we recently ordered my e-ring together! I think I love it, but the more I think about it, the more I wonder if it’s going to look weird when it’s all put together. We ordered it from Shane Co where you choose the setting and center stone separately, so I have only seen it in pieces!
I knew I wanted sapphires, so this is the setting I chose:
I have always wanted a halo, so we had them add a cushion halo head in the middle, then chose a 0.39ct round as the center stone. Here’s a photoshop mockup of what it will look like:
The reason I’m wondering if it will look strange is because the side diamonds are in I guess what you’d call a channel setting, while the halo diamonds are in a prong setting. So I’m not sure if it’s going to look right with two different setting types in the same ring.
Do any of you ladies have a similar ring that you can post pictures of, or any advice? I’m sure it’ll look totally different when I actually see it as opposed to my photoshop version, but I keep thinking that it’s going to look awkward.
Thanks in advance!! 🙂

I think it looks beautiful!

gorgeous! I’m not a big channel set fan – this would look awesome with a pave band but that’s just my opinion

@MrsWBS: That’s really what I was hoping for, but they didn’t have any with sapphires, and the desire for sapphires won…

I borrowed this from another thread (thank you, Bee whose ring pic I stole!), but THIS is exactly what I wanted, except for sapphires instead of diamonds as the two larger side stones.
My fingers are tiny, so I am also afraid the thicker band will be overwhelming. I’m considering going back to the store and seeing if I can find something more along the lines of what I wanted. They were so helpful last time, so I’m sure they’d help me to make sure it’s perfect.
What do you ladies think? Try to change it or keep it the way it is? I know this would be much easier if I had a picture of it on my finger!

My ring (which is currently at the jeweler’s) is a mix of pave and channel set and doesn’t look weird at all. In fact, Tacori does this on quite a few of their rings (including my new setting) and I think it adds depth and interest. Congrats! Your ring is gorgeous and unique!

I actually love the design you have picked out with the mix of prong set and channel set diamond band. I have a channel set diamond band on my engagement ring and I feel like these types of bands get put down a lot. I’m not really sure why, because honestly I think they are more beautiful than prong set because of the way the diamonds are supported. It’s as if the diamonds have more depth and are shinier because there is nothing blocking them underneath.
If you don’t like it though, don’t settle. Shop around more and get what you really want.
