Hello Bees! Yay for my first post!! So here's my dilemma, my colors are black, ivory and red.  Originally red and ivory were my main colors with a few black accents. So of course, as soon as I could I went and bought lots of red and ivory for the ceremony. Now that I've seen all these B&W weddings-I've fallen in love. So the part I'm worried about is the ceremony being mostly red and ivory and the reception being mostly black and ivory with red accents. My wedding ceremony is in the backyard of my FH's dad's house and reception is under a tent that evening.

Is it tacky that I will kind of be changing up the color scheme throughout the evening? Ceremony is red and ivory, cocktail hour is red and black, and reception is black and ivory with red accents.

I think that this sounds amazing! Don't think for a second that it might be tacky to change the color scheme. After all, you aren't really changing colors. I am actually wishing that I had thought of doing something like this. It will be beautiful!

Not at all weird! I'd suggest keeping the same shades of each color just to keep it consistent.

FutureMrsLada oh please don't change a thing! You are still sticking with the same colors overall, but you are just changing it up. :) Perfect! Actually, did you know that some places love to do different rooms for the wedding in different colors to kind of give it a unique look? It's very chic I think. It's not like you are using red and ivory for the wedding and then in the tent (which is nearby) using purple and yellow. I think THAT would be strange. You are making it different but it's not awkward.

I don't think it's weird to change colors as you change locations.

I did the same thing.  My wedding ceremony was mostly purple and ivory and the reception had purple, blue, hot pink.   It gave people a change over, set the mood.  I think it's a great idea.

I also wanted to welcome you to the boards and say that I think your idea will work great!

While we have a color scheme for our wedding, we're definitely not going for complete matchy-matchy.  It's a little harder to pull off the same tight cohesion, but when done right it looks so good!

I'd get with your florist and see what they recommend.  I say go for the color change!  Are you changing the lighting to reflect the different phases of the night?  I think it would be fantastic!!!

By the way, we're so glad you're here!
