@FutureDrAtkins:  UH, yeahhhhh….total creepster, socially awkward at BEST, at worst, the next craigslist killer who likes to take pics of the bodies he stacks up! LOL

“I really appreciate your quick response but we’ve decided on another photographer. Thanks, and have a great 2014!” The.End.

I would respond that I found another photographer. He sounds extremely unprofessional at best, and a criminal scam artist at worst. Aside from the creepy things he said, he doesn’t use a real contract. Don’t hire any vendor that tries to get out of sending you a contract.

@FutureDrAtkins:  Creepy vibe for sure. But maybe he didn’t mean anything by it, just trying to be convenient for you by meeting at your house. And weird he looked you up on facebook. I would still meet if this is the only photographer you have found in your price range you like. But at a coffee shop or something. Maybe look around a bit more to see if another photographer peaks your interest. But… holy crap your date is soon!

He may just be socially awkward.  Ask to meet him, with your fiance, at a public place, and then make a decision.

If you have your Facebook account public, he can look at it.  If you don’t want people looking at it, make it private.

I don’t get the creepy vibe as much as the socially awkward and possibly unprofessional vibe. I think if you like his work meet with him in a public place and bring your FI along too. You can always draft a contract if need be and see how he reacts. He may just be relatively new to the business and hasn’t encountered needing one before. Who knows.

Forget creepy, he just doesn’t even sound very professional. I wouldn’t hire him!

@FutureDrAtkins:  Why not meet him with your fiance at a public place?

Having a nice website does not make him legit…anyone can set up a website these days and who knows if it’s even his own work that’s on the site. Not only would I not meet with this guy, I would probably think twice about advertising on Craigslist to find a photographer. Any reputable photographer in your area would be searchable online. I think it’s very unlikely that you’ll find any decent, well established photographer that searches Craigslist to find clients. You’re more apt to attract creeps, unprofessionals and scam artists.

i got a creepy vibe, but if you like his work, you can always arrange to meet him in a public place with your fiance… maybe a starbucks. I wouldn’t mind the fb thing as a lot of people want to get a visual idea of who their talking too (i know I do) His speech disability may have made him a little self-conscience so he’s trying to be personal through the internet….

I mean if you think his work is stunning and after you see him in person in a public place and you still feel that way, don’t go with him, but I think it is just a misunderstanding.
