Yesterday my bridesmaids and I got together and had a fun day together addressing and putting together the save the dates as we were finishing up I got a phone call that my great grandmother has passed.I live in florida and all my family is upstate and the rest all over. This week all of my family will be traveling here to florida for the funeral would it be inapproprate to hand out the stds this wk or should I wait a while to let people grieve??I dont know what to do plus I will save a tonnnn in postage if I hand deliver to them

I think this would come off poorly. Plus how much would you actually save? $20? Not worth it

I think it’s fine to mail them out this week, I think it’s inappropriate to hand deliver them to people at a funeral or the surrounding time around the funeral.

ok thanks I wasnt going to do it at the funeral but like the day that they were leaving

Definitely mail them out after this week is over. The price of postage is nothing compared to the very real risk of looking inappropriate (at best) to your loved ones.

Oh my goodness, please wait!!!

I don’t see why it would be SO bad to give them out the day that they leave. She had a long, good life, right? She would have wanted you to bring some joy to your family members, and I think save the dates are a happy thing so wouldn’t come off as looking tacky. Just my 2 cents, though.

Going to the post office can be a real pain but still…I would wait.

I’m sorry for your loss. Definitely wait, it will be more respectful.

.45 * 200 = $90.
So if you have 200 guests you are saving $90 dollars. Its not worth it. If it were me, from a purely logistical point of view, I would lose the card before I got home. My mind would be on other things.
Its better to mail it.

I would wait… I had a lot of family members ask to see my engagement ring (been engaged for 3 months when he died) at my dad’s funeral and i thought that was in bad taste. If someone handed out STDs i would’ve probably lost it at them… the days surrounding a funeral are a little tense – plus i wouldnt have wanted my STD to be associated with a death (cos even if you wait til the day they leave they were still there due to a death)

I would wait until January/February.
