With my first two kids, I didn’t have baby showers. For this one, we were thinking of hosting a co-ed baby BBQ type thing, like one last hoorah before baby comes. No registry or anything like that. Horribly tacky?

Not at all. I wouldn’t call it a shower since you’re hosting it for yourself but I think a get together is a wonderful idea if you’ve got the energy for it!

Don’t call it a shower because the whole point of a shower is to bring gifts, and so it’s considered “tacky” (or whatever other word you want to put in there) to host that for yourself, obviously. Gift grabby, and all of that. I would just call it a celebration of your expanding family, your wonderful children and their soon-to-be sibling, etc.

Oh no, I definitely wouldn’t be calling it a shower! And it’ll be pretty informal. Facebook invite/text message/word of mouth type thing.

I would call it a pre-baby BBQ! Since you’re not doing gifts, it’s less of a shower and more of a social event anyway!

I think thats a great idea! A way to get together with your friends and family before baby is born! Go for it!
