I’ve had an intermittent, dull pain in my lower left abdomen for about the last week. I feel no pain much more often than I actually have the pain, but it has me a little weirded out because the sensation reminds me a lot of how I felt when I had an ovarian cyst about a year ago. The only difference between that sensation and this is that when I put pressure on my abdomen now, there’s no tenderness. Its just that as I sit here, I can kinda feel it throbbing there (very mildly). Also, occasionally when I cough I feel pressure in that spot, and this morning had a sharp pain but again I don’t always/often experience the discomfort.
Is this an average sensation of early pregnancy? I’m 5w6d and am freaking myself out a little. I’m assuming I should play it safe and call my OB’s office, but its mild so I don’t want to over react either.
Anyone experience anything similar to this or have any advice?

I’m from the thinking of you can’t overreact during pregnancy. Call just for peace of mind.

I second that. I would call right away and they’ll probably want to check you out. You just can’t be too paranoid in the early stages. It could be fine, but definitely find out for sure.

Thanks for responding. I ended up calling and was basically told that it could be a cyst, and she also made mention of ligament pain. She said if it gets worse, I’m doubled over in pain, or experience any bleeding to go to the ER. But as it stands she seemed like it wasn’t anything too out of the ordinary, or reason for immediate concern.
So it did give me a little piece of mind, but I’m still going to keep a close eye. I googled ligament pain though and is it not more common when you’re further along in pregnancy?
Ugh I think the ultimate peace of mind will be when I finally get my 8 week appointment.

I had pains like you are describing and still do from time to time. I know we are all different, but mine turned out to be just the normal aches and pains of pregnancy. I had my 8 week ultrasound a few weeks ago and everything was perfect.
Good luck and try not to stress out too much (says the girl who was completely paranoid before her first ultrasound). 🙂

Sounds like round ligament pain. Got that quite often throughout my pregnancy!
