I’m getting married in October and we’re going with the whole fall theme, but trying to keep it on the classy side. I’ve been pretty ambivalent about a lot of the decisions so far, but saw this picture and immediately fell in love. I think it’s gorgeous, but I may be biased. Others are telling me it’s a bit tacky and my mom isn’t a fan because it’s “not white”. The FH really likes it as well, which is saying a lot because he hasn’t had very strong opinions about wedding stuff yet either. What do you think?

Wow. I really like it because it’s different. A wedding cake does not have to be white…make it what you and your fiance want it to be.

Goooooorgeous! Who says a wedding cake has to be white? Seriously? There are so many coloured cakes out there that this isn’t even on teh “tacky” radar.

I think it’s gorgeous! Go with what you love. I was not aware that there was a rule that cakes had to be white.
I love the metallic leaves and it looks very October wedding appropriate! 🙂

I love the chocolate cake, the ribbon, the tiny dots above it.
The leaves are what throw me off a little. I think there might be too many of them for my taste and they are also a bit shiny, which may add to others feeling it is tacky.
I think this photo is a great inspiration and if you love it as is, that’s great. But if you want to keep the style and make a few adjustments I would recommend less leaves and making them not so shimmery.

I love the chocolate! And the metallic leaves are just beautiful! They’ll photograph so well 🙂

i like it. HOWEVER, only do this cake if you have a VERY skilled baker. i can just see those leaves ending up looking like ugly blobs.

I love the chocolate color and the leaves…the ribbon and the pearls just look extra though. If you could have the ribbon and pearls removed, it would be gorgeous.
