Is this ring appropriate for a 12 year old?

What would be the significance behind it?  Personally, yes I think it’s too much for a 12 y/o…Kids lose things all the time.  If you were giving it to her to keep for the future, that’s fine, but I think it would look strange if she wore it, on any finger.

GreenBayBee:  Not trying to be super snarky…but why does a 12 year old need a diamond ring?

It looks a little grown for a 12yo.

Hmmm, that is pretty!  I agree with PP though – I’d say hang on to it for a future gift.

It’s a beautiful ring and a beautiful gift that I think would be great for a special occasion. However, whether or not it’s appropriate I would very much base on the maturity level of the girl. If she has a tendency to misplace items, aren’t very careful with her belongings, I would probably hold of for a few more years.

What is the occasion? It’s pretty extravagant for a 12 year old and if she wore it on her ring finger the way it’s pictured, that would be inappropriate.

I would not buy anything that expensive for a 12yr old. The girls I watch are 10 and 13 and regularly lose pretty much everything.

eta: the style is a bit mature, but I wouldn’t say inappropriate

it is very pretty but Id wait for a 16th, 18th, or 21st birthday to put a diamond ring on a kid. She’ll likely lose it.

A more inexpensive gemstone I think!

It is beautiful, but I think it’s a bit much for a child. I know I would have lost it almost instantly. I was so careless!

My mom bought me a gold ring around the age of 15-16. It was beautiful, and being gold it probably ran a hundred or so. It sits in a jewery box and has for about 10 years while I wore cheaper rings (until I got my e-ring/wedding band) because the one she bought does not go with my style.

It totally depends on the kid! My mom gave me a beautiful pink saphire ring with 2 little diamonds when I turned 13, although the cost may be different, the idea is similar) and I was absolutely thrilled. I was a really responsible kid, felt totally spoiled, and still have it to this day.
