So my boyfriend and I have been looking at rings, and I don’t see the point of wasting money we need for household bills and other things on a ring, so I wanted one that’s small but beautiful. I found this promise ring at Zales, and I love it. But, it is very small, and since I’m only 19 I don’t want it to be mistaken for a promise ring. I also got my promise ring at Zales, and it looks quite similar. Here is my promise ring:
And here is the ring from Zales I want as my engagement ring.
Thoughts? The ring from Zales is 1/4 carat total. I would love it, and I think it’s perfect, but I’m just worried people will think it’s intended as a promise ring instead of as an engagement ring. I read the reviews and other people got it as an engagement ring. I just am worried about it for me personally. My ring size is 5.5 for reference.

The engagement ring is gorgeous! I don’t know if it’s like a regional thing but I don’t know anybody who wore a promise ring and I wouldn’t know how to tell one apart from a wedding ring. The center stone definitely adds to the bridal look. Is it rose gold? I loooove rose gold and I love how this almost looks two toned becaue of the contrasting diamond band. The engagement version definitely looks more… serious? special? i dont know, it looks much more significant than the promise ring. if you love it, then it is perfect.

eveline: IMO the ring is pretty & looks very much like an engagement ring. I think it’s very easy to get caught up in what others may think but at the end of the day it will be on ur finger so go with ur gut & get what you want.

I think its beautiful and yes it is suitable for an engagement ring..any ring is..it just depends on what you like!

Def looks like an engagement ring! And I would assume that your promise ring is actually a wedding band if I saw you wearing it (I think.)

I would assuume you were engaged if you were wearing that ring on your left ring finger.

eveline: My engagement ring is 0.25tcw as well, and I think it very much looks like an engagement ring:

eveline: That’s a beautiful ring! Is that rose gold? Love it!
It definitely doesn’t look like a promise ring. Many people have smaller engagement rings (though that one doesn’t look small to me with the cascading diamonds down the sides!) for a variety of reasons… they don’t like large rings, are saving up for a nicer ring, don’t see the point in spending a lot of money on a ring, want to save for a downpayment on a house or paying off loans or a big trip, etc.
All that truly matters is that you love the ring, and that you and your boyfriend see it as a commitment to your lifelong partnership and future.

I personally would adore that ring! I think it is gorgeous, and perfect for an engagement ring

Thank you for the sweet words everyone! It is rose gold, and I personally love rose gold or rose gold and white gold together! I think my promise ring actually was supposed to be a wedding ring, but it’s a chunkier twist than I’ve ever seen for a wedding band, and isn’t an infinity band. Here was the stock photo for my promise ring.
It’s funny because all the reviews on my promise ring were from girls who received it as a promise ring. It’s just called “twine ring” and doesn’t actually specify what exactly it’s for lol. The name of the ring I want as my engagement ring is called “entwined promise ring.” I guess I have a thing for rings that are entwined. 😛 And, I’m not sure if promise rings are regional. I live in West Hartford, CT and I have a couple friends who received them in high school, but aren’t with their boyfriends anymore. My boyfriend and I met a month after I graduated high school two years ago, and he all on his own decided to get me a promise ring when we moved in together last July. Out of all my friends, I’m the only one with a promise ring. I guess it’s not very common here. 😛

All that matters is that you love it!
I remember seeing a girl on the Bee whoes promise ring was .8 center and like 1.25tcw… Her E-ring was over 2 center…. The Names the stores give the rings dont matte rat all. Its whatever you call it!

NEAM2014: Wow that is totally not what I would think of as a promise ring! Lol! I guess anything goes nowadays. I remember when I was litte all my mom’s friends had no engagement ring at all and my mom had an anniversary ring as her wedding ring and how odd everyone thought it was she didn’t have a plain wedding band.

The girls are right, all that matters is that you adoer it. The sentiment behind the ring, and the fact that it’ll be the ring that symbolises the start of your life together. Its beautiful

When I think of promise rings I think something like this:
While the ring you’re looking at is petite, “promise” ring isn’t the first thing to come to mind. I’d just assume you prefer understated jewelry. It’s very pretty! My ring has two toned gold too, so I love that aspect of the ring you’re looking at! And the twist band is darling.
